JOB DESCRIPTION: Warehouse (Shipping) Supervisor
Job Summary:
Primary Purpose
Responsible for managing shipping, receiving, and storage of both raw materials and finished goods. Must be able to efficiently utilize space, people, and equipment in a safe manner. Responsible for ensuring compliance with all company/plant policies.
Specific Responsibilities/Essential Functions
Abides by all Amcor’s Safety & Quality policies and procedures. Ensures that all warehouse coordinators and forklift drivers are properly trained in their respective job duties and aware of potential safety and/or health risks. Maintains safe-working conditions by taking corrective action on unsafe conditions/acts. Ensures compliance with OSHA and GMP requirements. Schedules delivery of supplies for the production area to include performs, tier sheets, top frames, pallets, boxes, and labels as necessary through forklift drivers. Maintains inventory of these supplies based on projected usage and informs Materials Manager of what is necessary to order. Maintains accurate reports of all daily shipments of finished goods to customers and freight bills of lading. Responsible for all operational equipment in the warehouse area including forklifts, trailers, and dock doors. Communicates with vendors and negotiates maintenance costs to ensure equipment is in safe working order on an ongoing basis. Periodically reviews job performance to ensure training objectives are met and job performance meets company standards. Responsible for the following SAP functions: proper ticketing of finished goods and raw materials, cycle counting, inventory control and reconciliation and HFI coordination and tracking. Interviews and recommends candidates for hire. Identifies, interviews and recommends current personnel for promotion and wage increase opportunities. Responsible to maintain acceptable levels of inventory accuracy for all commodities as determined by corporate/management policy. Maintains building security by controlling the activities of delivery or pick up drivers. Maintains work efficiency through headcount recommendations and overtime control. Provides a safe, accident-free work area and procedures for required tasks.

This position reports to the Materials Manager

Job Specifications and Requirements:

Education and Experience

  • Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Must be proficient in MSOffice.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent 3-5 years experience in a production supervisory role.
  • Ability to communicate quickly and effectively at all levels of the organization.
Level of Authority & Authorization
“You have the right to hold for inspection; any product you feel does not meet customer/company specifications. “
  • Quarantine out-of-specification products, materials or supplies
  • Those employees with authorized training, have the ability to shut down / stop equipment if continued operation is a threat to any employee’s health and safety
  • Stop production for unacceptable quality

Authority to stop any observed unsafe work practice.
