Our Need: An ambitious and experienced warehouse manager who will optimize warehouse operations that are executed by a third party logistics provider 3PL on-site in Sparks, NV. Leveraging past 3PL and warehouse management experience, this problem solver will created a continuous improvement roadmap that drives high quality, cost reduction, and strong performance. This manager will measure and track key performance indicators KPIs to ensure all stakeholders are accountable for performing at expected levels and will be responsible for mitigating any KPIs that are not meeting target. This manager will also be accountable for ensuring strong inventory management and controls through the utility of the warehouse management system WMS and inventory control processes.

Creating a positive culture within the warehouse, this leader will ensure outstanding communication across all levels of operations. This warehouse is currently underway with a 3PL operator transition and this manager will be responsible for on-site implementation, hyper-care and stabilizing the operation to meet operational needs. Strong project management skills will be essential in delivering upon this expectation.

Warehouse operations consist of 80 percent manufacturing raw materials and 20 percent indirect material handling. Ensuring continual and accurate raw material movement is critical to the manufacturing operations and this manager will be held accountable for accurate and timely material movement.

Upon stabilization of the PENA warehouse environment, this manager will take on additional management responsibilities across the North American warehousing environment. Strong growth potential exists for a highly motivated warehouse manager who can help lead Panasonic warehousing into the future!

What You'll Get to Do:

3PL Warehouse Management and 3PL Supplier Relationship Management:

  • Serve as the Panasonic Manager on-site in Sparks, NV overseeing a 3PL operated warehouse
  • Ensure accountability at all levels of warehouse leadership through robust KPIs and performance scorecards to validate all aspects of the contractual Statement of Work SOW are being achieved
  • Serve as warehousing subject matter expert within PENA to support production and management meetings
  • Establish outstanding communication and trust with 3PL operations team to operate a highly efficient warehouse
  • Serve as the business owner for the Warehouse Management System WMS and related WMS controls
  • Drive quality, productivity and cost controls through engaged leadership and management techniques
  • Ensure a robust 5S program is established and adhered to across all operations
  • Establish inventory control, cycle count and audit program in accordance with Panasonic standards
  • Validate process documentation and training is established and followed for all roles within the warehouse
  • Create strong communication and transportation controls with Gigafactory Dock personnel for material movement
  • Develop a continuous lean improvement culture and project pipeline to achieve YoY performance objectives
  • Establish daily or weekly or monthly or quarterly warehouse operations reviews at appropriate levels to control operations

Key Performance Indicators KPIs Management and Continuous Improvement Controls:

  • Track and validate all 3PL costs in partnership with PENA finance to ensure contractual costs are achieved
  • Develop targeted action plans with 3PL partners to mitigate any deficient quality, cost or performance objectives
  • Document opportunities and develop a pipeline of initiatives or projects to optimize warehouse operations
  • Work with respective 3PL and PENA stakeholders to identify continuous improvement opportunities
  • Create and utilize structed KPIs and performance scorecard to drive 3PL operations and achieve contract terms
  • Hold 3PL partners accountable to operating a high quality and efficient warehouse that meets Panasonic standards and contractual commitments

Management Communication and PENA Operations Support:

  • Validate warehouse operations are supporting required FTZ and inventory control requirements at PENA
  • Support and participate in required management meetings to stay aligned with PENA strategy and ensure warehousing supports continuous improvement within PENA operations
  • Prepare proper management performance reports to inform PENA leadership of warehouse related topics
  • Develop and foster strong relationships and lines for communication with respective PENA supply chain and operations team members who rely upon warehousing function

Panasonic North America Warehousing Strategy and Support:

  • Support leadership and 3PL operations at other locations across the US as needed to ensure warehousing functional success across North America
  • Work directly with Director of Logistics Operations to develop long term North American Warehousing strategy to ensure the warehouse function is a value add area of business and is yielding long term benefit to the businesses supported by the warehouse function
  • Validate WMS and systems strategy support long term strategic direction
  • Work directly with Director of Logistics Operations to review or update or document warehousing standards and operating procedures as required
  • Support Panasonic North America Warehousing and Logistics Operations team in the North American Warehouse Optimization Initiative that is target on optimizing the warehousing footprint and environment

What You'll Bring:

Education and Experience:

  • 8+ years of progressive warehousing experience
  • 3+ years of warehouse management related experience preferred. 3PL management experience preferred
  • Managerial experience in logistics and or transportation field is preferred.
  • Minimum BA degree in Data Analytics, Business, or logistics. MBA or Masters Degree in Supply Chain preferred.
  • Lean or Six Sigma certification preferred; Continuous improvement experience required
  • Advanced PC skills – ms office; access, PowerPoint and excel required. Good understanding of supply chain, SAP, production and inventory control

Competencies:

  • Able to multitask and prioritize assignments.
  • Natural problem solving skills are necessary to own the process and maintain required data flows
  • Fact finding and analysis are critical parts of the job. Analysis requires assembling facts and evidence from variety of sources, using considerable latitude in applying the proper analytical methodology.
  • Strong collaboration skills to maintain open cooperation with multiple stakeholders within different business units

Communications:

  • Provide frequent, and at times complex, explanation often to high-level contacts and executive management
  • Present to various sized groups to promote ideas.
  • Strong communication skills required.

Other Requirements:

  • Travel Required approximately <20 percent.
