Job Title: VP/SVP of Finance & Accounting
Department: Accounting & Finance
Reports To: General Manager
Classification: Exempt / Full-time
Annual Salary Range: $200,000 - $235,000
Location: Hybrid; work is performed via remote and from Company’s El Segundo, CA office on designated days (at minimum 1 day per month, subject to change in Company’s sole discretion.)

General Summary: We are looking for a strategic and experienced VP/SVP of Finance & Accounting to lead these critical functions for our organization. Reporting to the General Manager, you will be a key part of our organization’s Executive Leadership Team and will be responsible for the overall management of the organization’s budgets and financial strategy and goals. The VP of Finance & Accounting will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all finance-related activities of the company. This will include direct responsibility for accounting, finance, forecasting, cash management, strategic planning, corporate compliance, deal analysis, risk management and insurance. In addition, the VP of Finance & Accounting will provide strong leadership to our accounting and finance team and will be responsible for regularly presenting financial results and strategy to our Board of Directors and to others within the company.
Leadership Responsibilities :
- Effectively lead the Accounting & Finance team, ensuring employee retention, performance, and development,
- As part of the Executive Leadership Team, develop, implement and optimize plans to achieve company’s near-term and long-term strategic objectives.
- Present and communicate the company’s financial plans and performance to the Board of Directors and to others in the company in a way that is clear, accurate and effective in telling the story of where the company is and where it is headed.
Accounting, General Ledger, Administration and Operations
- Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools, and control systems
- Maintain and implement best-in-class reporting standards, income statements, balance sheets, cash flows, chart of accounts, statutory accounting to U.S. GAAP and IFRS reconciliations, consolidation, and audit requirements
- Oversee process for setting appropriate inventory, returns, and bad debt reserves. Review monthly trial balances, balance sheets, and cash flow. Review and approve statutory reporting and royalty statements
- Lead month-end and year-end close process; ensure a timely and accurate process through active oversight and supervision of the accounting team and active management of the audit
- Review and analyze contracts and develop an intimate understanding all new deals and joint ventures and their financial implications and obligations
- Authorize vendor payments and monitor cash and debt levels, as well as compliance with debt covenants
- Ensure timely and error free payroll processing, and payroll GL accounting.
- Oversee and manage the preparation and timely filing of all sales tax
- Oversee the daily operations of the Accounting function and team, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue, royalties, technical accounting, payroll and treasury
Financial Management, Planning, and Strategy
- Manage ongoing financial performance reporting, including P&L and cash flow
- Lead the process of developing the company’s annual operating budget including income statement, balance sheet and cash flow
- Take a lead role in merger & acquisition activities as needed
- Present clear, consumable insights into underlying factors contributing to any variances versus budget
- Lead periodic reforecasting activities as needed
- Lead company strategy for insurance requirements
- Develop and manage reporting, tracking KPIs and presentations to convey progress toward company initiatives
- Lead all strategic financial planning for the company
Cash Management, Treasury
- Own the relationship with payment processors and monitor successful payment processing/chargebacks/etc.
- Actively manage the company’s cash position and cash forecasting process ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and funds availability
- Oversee weekly cash management working closely with AP and AR, approve payables, authorize wires, and ACHs
Education and work Experience
- 7+ years of relevant managerial experience
- Experience in consumer packaged goods preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting, MBA preferred
- CPA license desirable
- 15+ years experience with progressive responsibility in accounting and finance
- Proven leadership skills
- Exceptional understanding of US GAAP and displayed proficiency in accounting operations
- Advanced MS Office Suite skills - Exceptional in Excel.
- Outstanding presentation and communication skills
Environmental, Psychological and Physiological Requirements:
The work will be performed inside a multi-story office building with elevators and stairs.
The person must be able to remain in a stationary position for up to 50% of the time.
Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery and conference rooms.
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a copy machine, printer, and calculator
Frequently communicates with employees who have inquiries.
Ability to learn technical material and apply the knowledge to their work.
