Our world-renowned reputation rests on the perfect blend of expertise, science, sustainability, and heart. Dermalogica is now seeking a forward-thinking Vice President of Technology and Development to join our executive team and lead our quest in reimagining the future of skincare.

About the Role:

As our Vice President of Technology and Development, you will have the unique opportunity to push the boundaries of the skincare industry, transforming ideas into realities, and pioneering revolutionary skincare solutions. You will provide strategic leadership and direction for our diverse teams in R&D, Regulatory, Product Science, and Sustainability. You will integrate new technologies, design superior product strategies, and lead the charge for sustainable practices in our industry ensuring that every product we develop not only benefits our customers but also respects our planet.

Your Mission:

  • Forge strong cross-functional relationships, collaborating with Marketing and Operations to align R&D initiatives with business strategies and customer needs.
  • Act as spokesperson representing the company on innovation and scientific expertise with customers, media and industry peers.
  • Interface with parent company, Unilever, to bring new R&D technologies and expertise to Dermalogica.
  • Drive the development of new products that are innovative, differentiated, high-quality, and sustainable, which lead the industry with new solutions and paradigms, whilst ensuring key timelines and cost targets are met.
  • Spearhead our sustainability efforts and sourcing initiatives, fostering a company-wide culture that values and prioritizes environmental consciousness.
  • Guide the development and execution of new formulations, technologies, and product delivery systems while providing scientific leadership.
  • Provide inspirational leadership to our teams, fostering an environment of creativity and scientific rigor, while driving breakthrough innovations that define the next chapter in skincare.
  • Convert scientific breakthroughs into consumer-friendly product stories.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, encouraging creativity and pushing boundaries within guidelines.
  • Implement a robust global regulatory strategy, ensuring all products meet stringent quality and safety standards.

What You Will Need:

  • Strong experience in successfully navigating global cosmetic and skincare regulations.
  • In-depth understanding of the beauty and skincare industry, including product development, regulatory standards, and market trends.
  • At least 15+ years in a senior leadership role within the beauty/cosmetics industry, overseeing R&D and associated functions. Experience in prestige skin care brands is a significant plus!
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, including ability to translate technical information for non-technical audiences.
  • A strong commitment to sustainable and ethical practices within the beauty industry.
  • Exceptional team management and development skills, with a focus on fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, adapting quickly to changes in industry trends and regulatory landscapes.
  • An advanced degree in the sciences (Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering or equivalent).
  • Proven track record of fostering creativity and innovation in a competitive marketplace, driving the development and launch of successful products.
