Job Description

Job Title: VP Tech Infrastructure and IT Operations

Position Location: Raleigh, NC. Hybrid. Must live locally.


Your impact:


As Coastal's VP of Tech Infrastructure and IT Operations you'll be responsible for Coastal's technology infrastructure which provides technology solutions that are reliable, secure, and sustainable, and that connect users to the data and services they need to best serve Coastal members. By planning, designing, and implementing secure technology solutions, you'll facilitate our ongoing business and maximize system availability and proactive maintenance through system monitoring, troubleshooting and diagnostics, patching, repair or replacement of infrastructure components, etc.


You'll also ensure the applications and systems that our customers use to operate Coastal meet the needs of our business today and in the future. You'll lead the delivery of support, service, availability and optimization of applications and systems through our service desk, system administration, and systems operations teams and ensure that IT operations (Process, Release, Incident, and Change Management) is continually improving.

Leading overall IT infrastructure and operations goals by:


  • Accomplishing annual planned projects
  • Directing staff in the analysis of current practices and identifying areas for improvement
  • Presenting proposals for your recommended changes and coordinating implementation
  • Focusing on expense alignment to make sure the department is running efficiently
  • Remaining attuned to industry advances
  • Building strong internal customer and key third-party vendor relationships


Leading division results and goals for the IT engineering team by:


  • Building enterprise technology solutions that integrate with existing production systems and services
  • Continually improving our technical infrastructure ecosystem
  • Leading division results and goals for the IT tech support team by:
  • Delivering individual technology solutions that enable direct user access to infrastructure services and data


Leading division results and goals for the IT service desk team by:


  • Ensuring effective utilization of our service and incident management system-Service Desk
  • Building a knowledge base of common customer questions
  • Ensuring a strong team of systems analysts and engineers to support, maintain, and enhance our current and future systems and infrastructure.
  • Handling setup, configuration, troubleshooting, vendor management, and system releases to ensure systems and infrastructure components meet the business needs of internal customers and, ultimately, our members
  • Leading division results and goals for the IT systems operations team by:
  • Minimizing disruption to customer productivity by anticipating and preventing IT issues
  • Delivering efficient and complete IT services to our customers
  • Serving as the liaison between our business unit customers and IT


Leading division results and goals for the IT systems administration team by:


  • Ensuring Coastal's systems deliver excellence in member service though high availability, surety, and resilience
  • Creating efficiencies and stability through focus on people, processes, IT application services and technology to continually drive value to Coastal's members


Leading division results and goals for process, release, incident, and change management by:


  • Protecting our members, employees, and assets during disasters
  • Continually improving processes
  • Providing stability and control through change and release management of our systems
  • Staying on top of continually changing regulatory demands


Protecting Coastal by:

  • Focusing on a strong, up-to-date business continuity plan in collaboration with business partners and Info. Sec group
  • Managing the teams that perform all changes to the technical infrastructure resulting from changing regulatory, business, project, and/or support requirements
  • Designing, developing, delivering, and securing Coastal's technical infrastructure
  • Providing support for internal/external fraud investigators
  • Monitoring industry changes and implementing preventive measures
  • Resolving audit and exam findings
  • Building strong vendor relationships to ensure outstanding support from these vendors
  • Ensuring the BCP preparedness of division


Developing team by:


  • Identifying each of your team member's talents and align accordingly.
  • Holding meaningful weekly check-ins with each team member to build relationship, trust, and provide the opportunity for coaching, feedback, and recognition
  • Cross-training to ensure optimal coverage
  • Building a culture that embodies Coastal's values
  • Ensuring your staff has the knowledge and tools needed to perform well
  • Conducting performance pulses and milestone connect meetings regularly
  • Optimizing staff and processes

Experience:


  • Five years of experience in Cloud based infrastructure such as AWS & Azure.
  • At least eight years' management/leadership and staff development experience.
  • At least fifteen years of experience with the selection, implementation, operation and support of infrastructure technologies and systems used within an enterprise environment, with emphasis on the following technologies: Microsoft enterprise technologies, RedHat, servers and workstations, CISCO switches/servers, VOIP technology, SAN/NAS technology, VMware, Web support services and workflow/ticketing/workforce management applications, and ITSM

Education:

  • College degree in computer science/technology, business administration, or related field; with ITIL and PMP certification preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
