Reporting to the Chief Sales, Marketing and Product Officer, the Vice President, Product will play a pivotal role in driving the strategic vision and execution of our health plan products. This product executive is responsible for overseeing the development, enhancement, and implementation of innovative health plan products that meet the needs of our customers and contribute to the growth and success of the company. You will lead a team of talented professionals, foster a culture of innovation, and collaborate with various departments to ensure the seamless delivery of our health plan offerings. The responsible person will provide the direction, leadership, and vision to the product function—which includes a team of 20+ employees and serving as a key partner to marketing strategy, performance marketing, sales, and other cross-functional peers.

Key Duties


Product Strategy and Innovation


  • Lead cross-functional teams in brainstorming and ideation sessions to generate creative product concepts and enhancements that address the evolving demands of the healthcare industry.
  • Conduct thorough market research and feasibility studies to assess the potential viability and profitability of proposed product initiatives.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive product strategy that aligns with the company's long-term vision and goals. This involves analyzing market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscapes to identify opportunities for new and innovative health plan products.


Leadership and Team Management


  • Provide visionary leadership to the product development team, setting clear objectives, priorities, and performance expectations.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment where team members are motivated, engaged, and empowered to contribute their best.
  • Mentor and coach team members, supporting their professional growth and skill development in product design, development, and management.


Operational Excellence


  • The product leader will have expert level understanding of the audiences that we serve to conceptualize, design, and implement a comprehensive product portfolio.
  • Accurate understanding of in market performance of products across the delivery system.
  • Utilize your extensive product development experience to streamline and optimize the end-to-end product development lifecycle.
  • Implement industry best practices and process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce time-to-market, and increase the overall quality of health plan products.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across different departments to ensure seamless integration and implementation of product enhancements.


Data Analytics and Technology


  • Stay abreast of technological advancements and emerging trends in the healthcare industry, incorporating relevant innovations into product development to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Leverage strong data analytic skills to analyze product performance, customer feedback, and market trends. Use this data-driven approach to make informed decisions and prioritize product improvements.


Collaboration and Relationship Building


  • Engage with customers, industry experts, and key opinion leaders to gather insights and validate product concepts.
  • Establish and nurture effective partnerships with various stakeholders, including senior leadership, marketing, sales, customer service, and external vendors.
  • Collaborate closely with the sales and marketing teams to understand customer needs and feedback, ensuring that product development aligns with market demands.


Regulatory Compliance and Quality Assurance


  • Implement rigorous quality assurance processes to ensure that products meet the highest standards of safety, security, and reliability.
  • Work closely with legal and compliance teams to ensure that health plan products adhere to all relevant regulatory and compliance standards.


Financial Management


  • Collaborate with the finance department to develop budgets and financial forecasts related to product development initiatives.
  • Monitor and control product development expenses, ensuring projects stay within budget while delivering high-quality outcomes.


Strategic Partnerships


  • Identify potential strategic partnerships and collaborations with other companies, organizations, or healthcare providers to enhance product offerings and expand the company's market reach.


Customer Focus


  • Champion a customer-centric approach in product development, continuously seeking feedback and insights from customers to enhance the user experience and overall satisfaction.


Minimum Requirements


  • 8 or more years of proven leadership experience, demonstrating the ability to lead and motivate teams effectively.
  • Bachelor's degree or combination of post-high school education and relevant experience required. Additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of education.
  • Proven record of driving organizational and operational changes, leveraging technology and data analytics to achieve continuous improvement.
  • Possess executive presence and strong people skills, with the ability to influence and build trust at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with stakeholders and convey complex information in a clear manner.
  • 15 years of health plan product development experience in the healthcare or insurance industry, with a preference for health plan experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large, complex enterprise projects and programs to successful completion, fostering cross-functional relationships and aligned objectives.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading large-scale product development initiatives.


Work-at-home Requirements


  • A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 30x5 (30mpbs download x 5mpbs upload) is required.
  • A dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information
  • Hotspots, satellite and wireless internet service is NOT allowed for this role.
  • Must have the ability to provide a non-cellular High Speed Internet Service such as Fiber, DSL, or cable Modems for a home office.
  • Latency (ping) response time lower than 80 ms

GEHA considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and business considerations when extending an offer.


The annual base salary range for this position is $190,320 - $285,480 USD.
