Job Description

Title: VP of Finance

Reports to: President, Elliott Wilke

ABOUT THE ROLE


Reporting to the President, the VP of Finance will be responsible for building out the finance function and strategy at Epic Gardening. The VP Finance will lead FP&A, reporting, and the accounting function. The VP of Finance will drive S&OP process and provide leadership across business decisions, capital allocation, and play a key role in managing capital partners and investment institutions. The VP Finance will partner with Brand President & CEO in M&A due diligence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with Brand President to define financial strategy
  • Manage cash flow and budgeting processes to support team operations and fiscal accountability
  • Develop and direct financial plans to deliver the strategic business plan, company growth and market opportunities and direction
  • Identify meaningful initiatives to achieve organizational goals
  • Set up and/or oversee all financial and operational controls and metrics within the organization
  • Own treasury and working capital requirements; ensure that banking and financial management relationships are optimized to support the business
  • Lead integration strategies; creating rigor and discipline in SOP and infrastructure
  • Build, lead, and direct a best-in-class finance and accounting team
  • Manage processes for financial forecasting, budgets, and consolidations, planning, analysis, ERP selection and implementation
  • Provide financial insights to make the best decisions related to executing business strategy
  • Maintain responsibility for financial operations including working capital, capital expenditures, debt levels, taxes, budget, and general accounting
  • Develop and lead the strategic planning process including ownership of Company Scorecard
  • Work closely with Brand President on M&A efforts and evaluation
  • Establish, cultivate, and maintain relationships across departments to ensure completion of projects and adherence to financial policies and procedures
  • Establish and maintain stable cash flow management policies and procedures, and ensure cash resources are available for daily operations
  • Serve as a key point of contact with investors, shareholders, and outside lending/equity groups

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills, with a strong attention to detail
  • 10+ years of relevant finance experience
  • Experience working in a scaled organization; startup experience preferred
  • High emotional and social intelligence with experience fostering positive relationships with diverse teams
  • Demonstrated leadership, change management, and verbal and written communication skills
  • Analytic, organization, and problem-solving skills which support and enable sound decision making
  • Experience with inventory management; audit experience is a plus
  • Ability to translate strategic and business goals into visual deliverables
  • Self-motivated and proactive with a strong work ethic
  • Excellent ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Planning, Finance, Analytics, or related discipline
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in a Strategic and/or Business Planning Function
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communication skills

WORKING LOCATION

This is a hybrid position with preferred geography in Denver/Broomfield/Boulder Colorado or San Diego California with willingness to travel to Colorado as needed.

COMPENSATION

This is an exempt role. The pay range for this position is $200,000- $225,000 + bonus + equity.
