Description


Position Purpose


The Vice President, Finance will be a key member of the senior leadership team, responsible for executing the company’s financial strategy, optimizing cash flow, protecting the assets of the company, adhering to GAAP and IFRS, maintaining a strong working and supportive relationship with Sandvik, as well as managing overall company risk. The Finance organization consists of General, Cost and FPA teams as well as payroll. The VP will provide overall direction and leadership for these teams by partnering with the business to understand desired outcomes, providing best practices and external trends to drive the organization toward optimal decisions, and implementing systems, processes and working on cross-functional projects that will scale the capabilities of these functions along with the business.

Responsibilities
  • Develops and implements financial strategies that align with the company’s overall mission and strategy, resulting in innovative best practices and policies.
  • Maintains and encourages continuous improvement to our ERP and reporting solutions to help guide executive team decision making and provide appropriate metrics for analysis of the business.
  • Helps build a high-performing culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration embedded in a foundation of honesty and integrity.
  • Administers and maintains credit arrangements with Sandvik to maintain adequate sources of capital for the company.
  • Provide partnership, support and guidance to the Operations and Manufacturing departments, maximizing our new ERP with linkages to other key data sources.
  • Optimizes the efficient utilization of cash and financial services in a manner consistent with the company's objectives.
  • Participates in the ongoing development of the organization’s short and long term objectives, and acts as a strategic partner.
  • Initiates other activities, whether financial or not, which contribute to the financial health, growth, and overall fulfillment of the corporate mission.
  • Develops and monitors Standards of Internal Control (SIC), policies and procedures within General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and corporate guidelines to ensure sufficient cash flow, reduce operating costs, and increase revenues within a global, project-based environment.
  • Provide partnership, support and guidance to the Sales and Engineering departments on various accounting and project reporting topics to provide a clear linkage between the financial aspects and the project progress, in such areas as proposal development, cost estimating, revenue recognition, projects accounting, provisions, and other key areas.
  • Studies, analyzes and reports on trends, opportunities for expansion and projection of future company growth and operational excellence. Direct financial strategy, planning and forecasts. Confer with senior team members as trusted advisor.
  • Partners with VP, Talent & Organizational Development to manage company retirement plans for financial effectiveness and employee retention.
  • Continuously improves and implements targeted planning tools to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the annual planning process, overall forecasting capabilities, accounting systems, monthly closing, and the financial reporting processes.
  • Oversees the approval and processing of revenue, expenditure, and position control documents, department budgets, ledger and account maintenance.

  • Strong working knowledge of ERP and accounting software.

Education And Experience


  • Experience successfully mentoring and developing a team, including managing work allocation, training, problem resolution, performance evaluation, and the building of an effective team dynamic.
  • 15 years of progressively responsible financial management experience.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; MBA preferred.
  • Experience in implementing internal systems for budget development, cost controls, and long-range financial forecasting.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment; project-based or engineering professional services preferred lending to deep understanding of operations management, manufacturing supply chain, and information systems across multi-site international operations.
