Job Description
THE POSITION

The Department of Labor & Industry is seeking a Vocational Rehabilitation Supervisor for the Wilkes-Barre District Office. In this role you will be responsible for the supervision of a unit of counselors who are involved in providing rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities. This position reviews and evaluates case records, narrative material, and counselor performance to ensure adherence to mandated Federal and State guidelines and regulations in the delivery of services to persons with disabilities. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

You will supervise (plan, organize, direct) a unit of rehabilitation professionals in providing vocational rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities, implementing the operational goals of the VR Program through assigning, scheduling, directing, and monitoring unit activities.
Work includes assigning referrals to Counselors/Interns as appropriate based upon location, specialties, and caseload guidelines and assisting VRCs and VR Interns in developing referral sources.
The district office covers the following counties: Bradford, Columbia, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Pike, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Wayne, and Wyoming.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Telework: You will have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 2 days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Wilkes-Barre.

  • Full-time employment.
  • Salary: Most employees will start at the beginning level of the advertised salary.
  • Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Two years as a Social Worker 2 (commonwealth title) in the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation; or
  • Two years of professional experience in a public vocational rehabilitation program; AND possession of an active Certified Rehabilitation Counselor certificate issued by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification.
  • Two years of professional experience in a public vocational rehabilitation program; AND a master’s degree in vocational rehabilitation, mental health, special education, social work, human services, psychology, business administration, human resources, public administration, or a closely related field; or
  • Two years as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor; Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, Deaf and Hard of Hearing; Vision Rehabilitation Therapist; or Orientation and Mobility Specialist (commonwealth titles); or
Other Requirements:
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
