Job Description

If you are passionate about providing career counseling and enjoy working during regular business hours, this is the perfect career counseling opportunity with our nonprofit! As a full-time Vocational Evaluator at Families Forward, you will work closely with clients to help them achieve their career goals.

We offer this career counseling position a competitive wage and amazing benefits, including medical, dental, vision, a flexible spending account (FSA), short- and long-term disability, a 403(b) plan, an employee assistance program, a future mom's program, and life insurance. Join our nonprofit organization in the social services industry, and make a difference in the lives of those we serve!

WHO WE ARE

Founded in 1935, the Fedcap Group is the parent company of a growing number of top-tier nonprofit agencies dedicated to serving over 300,000 children and adults each year across the United States and the United Kingdom. Families Forward was created to meet the needs of the people in Maine. We're a human services organization committed to helping individuals obtain long-term economic well-being.

We work hard to provide access to employment, training, education, and community resources. Nearly 60% of our staff have lived in Maine for over 20 years. "Mainers" to the core, our team models the strong work ethic and integrity our state is known for. We value each and every employee! This is why we provide competitive compensation, robust benefits, and plenty of opportunities for personal and professional growth.

WHAT DOES A VOCATIONAL EVALUATOR DO?

As a Vocational Evaluator at Families Forward, you have the opportunity to provide career counseling to a caseload of clients and ensure they receive the best possible services within an established timeframe. You're responsible for interviewing clients to uncover their unique employment, education, and training histories. You then use a variety of tests and vocational evaluation tools to assess their interests, abilities, strengths, weaknesses, and more!

With attention to detail, you measure client responses to identify their organizational ability, perseverance, attendance, punctuality, flexibility, interpersonal skills, work habits, and communication skills. Based on the results of various assessments, you develop employment plans that include education and vocational training referrals, work experience program (WEP) referrals, and job options that are tailored to each client's needs.

You also collaborate with other company service providers to ensure your clients receive comprehensive services and document all services and activities in our system. And when the need arises, you prepare special reports to keep everyone informed. Your hard work and dedication will contribute to our social services organization in a big way, and you can take pride in knowing that you're making a real difference in people's lives!
