San Francisco Proper Hotel is seeking a dynamic General Manager to oversee Villon, our signature fine-dining outlet. This position requires exceptional leadership and vision, and is responsible for fostering and developing an exciting, positive, results-based environment for the restaurant. The ideal candidate possesses strong personal organization, genuine hospitality skills, and care for staff. Understanding and implementing contemporary luxury lifestyle standards is equally as crucial.
Responsibilities
- Exhibits, executes and trains all team of Forbes 5 Star service standards
- Participate in launching press initiatives that drive creativity and visibility
- Complete daily, weekly, and monthly management administrative duties including operations reports, financial documentation, guest correspondence, human resources / staff management paperwork, operations evaluations, standard operating procedures, safety and sanitations checklists, ordering and inventory documentation, and PR/marketing tasks.
- Participate in Outlets financial performance and goal establishment
- Progress, enhance and implement new wine offerings in conjunction with an evolving style in the fine dining world
- Actively creates and delivers well thought through ideas to Villon GM
- Oversee operations in compliance with legal and regulatory agency requirements
- Participate in overseeing hiring, training, coaching, development, and discipline for Outlet FOH staff
- Seek new opportunities and strategies for the improvement of the Outlet operations
- Keep up to date on current trends in the fine dining market
- Seek unique beverage offerings that differentiate us from the market
- Maintain compliance with departmental policies, procedures, and standards
- Participate in creating and maintaining a positive working culture for all team members
- Prepare and deliver Power Point Presentations to an audience of over 30 attendees
- Liaise with and supports the goals of the culinary management team.
- Maintain the quality and consistency of the guest experience
Skills/Knowledge Required
- Strong knowledge of food trends and fine dining cooking techniques
- Deliver seamless wine and Champagne service and training
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Comfortable operating and programming POS system
- The ability to motivate and inspire others to work cooperatively to achieve a designated goal.
- Versed in spirit and wine knowledge
- Must be openminded and possess a positive attitude
- Ability to withstand high temperatures, moisture and noise levels in work areas.
- Ability to endure abundant physical movements in various work areas.
- Ability to lead wine seminars and trainings for team
- Must be able to motivate and coach dining team productively and strategically
- Strong written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills
- The ability to maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent data.
- Strong knowledge of wine, wine making process, regions, varietals, and characteristics
- Ability to exert physical effort in transporting equipment and wares.
- Must exude a “work as a team” mindset
- Proactive attitude with strong organizational and time management skills
- Flexible schedule - Willing and able to work shift duties that may include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
- Passionate about the evolving trends in the food and beverage scene
- Ability to forecast business levels and purchase items proactively in-line with budgeted expenditures
- Must be able to multitask while remaining detail oriented and focused
Qualification Standards
- Experience: Over 4 years of hospitality experience, and 2 years of previous managerial experience in a similar position preferred
- Microsoft Suite experience preferred
- California Food Handlers Certificate Required
- Education: High school graduate or equivalent education preferred
- Licenses or Certificates: Responsible Beverage Service Certification Required
- Certified Sommelier Level 2 or CSW Certificate preferred
- Forbes 5-Star experience preferred
- Michelin experience preferred
