Job Description
Primary Purpose
Oversees all aspects of video production in a virtual studio, for campus events and in the field. Manages the flow of productions, works with individual video production requests, meets with requesting parties, generates production schedules and scripts when needed, edits and delivers final product. This position will do studio, field and post-production responsibilities including but not limited to video recording, lighting, editing, and post-production work. In addition, will operate and maintain classroom multi-media, video, audio production equipment, and media related software. Provide maintenance, setup, operation, training, troubleshooting, and support for a variety of events and productions using multi-media equipment as well as assisting in coordinating requests of individuals and/or groups for the purpose of ensuring availability of audio/video equipment for instructional and event use. (e.g. installation, configuration, repair, technical support, equipment requirements, etc.)
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Operates studio and portable video recording equipment, sound recording equipment, fixed and portable lighting equipment, manages post-production environment including upgrades, repair and replacement. Acts as a Videographer/ Producer in the field. Exercises independent judgment in the assembling and editing of video material for use by the university.
  • Provides ongoing inventory of all video production related equipment, maintains accurate/searchable records, logs; produce weekly and quarterly reports for the department. Prepares and monitors production budget and performs post-production accounting functions.
  • Serves as back-up for Sr. Media Tech, as needed.
  • Work closely with Communication and Admissions departments in order to facilitate procedures that will assist in University Branding and expanding student enrollment.
  • Independent decision making with creating and managing production schedules, scripts, project tracking, creative decisions in editing and production to ensure that video production deadlines are met, and university goals are achieved.
  • Maintains a collaborative work environment and works well with others.
  • Provide maintenance, setup, operation, training, troubleshooting, and support for a variety of events and productions using multi-media equipment as well as assisting in coordinating requests of individuals and/or groups for the purpose of ensuring availability of audio/video equipment for instructional and event use. (e.g. installation, configuration, repair, technical support, equipment requirements, etc.)
  • Edits on professional non-linear editing workstations, manages narration, produces video duplications, uploads videos to appropriate websites, and generates reports using university reporting system.
  • Interface with Deland & Celebration campus IT/Broadcast personnel in order to facilitate cooperative design and integration procedures between all Stetson Campuses.
  • Assists the Director of Media Services in decision making regarding long term planning for instructional technologies, multimedia and audio/video productions.
  • Manages video production requests to ensure timely delivery of video projects and delivers final products to appropriate sources.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Operates and maintains classroom multi-media, video, audio production equipment, and media related software.
  • Direct and facilitate informal communication in order to ascertain faculty & staff recommendations/requests/designs relating to video and event productions.
  • Provide expertise and consultation to faculty, staff, and students and establish quality multimedia, audio/video, and instructional tool productions that present the best communication links to the Stetson community and business partners.
Required Skills
  • Highly proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro or similar video editing programs as well as After Effects, Audition and Photoshop. Must have knowledge of lighting packages, filters, lenses, audio equipment. Ability to upload and compress videos as needed.
  • Associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred. A minimum of three (3) years of experience in video recording, video production, AV Event Production and project management are required. Will consider a combination of education and experience in lieu of degree.
  • Experience working with faculty in a university setting, preferred.
  • Works to build an environment that promotes and facilitates the success of Diversity and Inclusive Excellence.
  • A good track record of acting as producer, editor, videographer, and director on a range of projects.
  • Experience with Event Production and Audio-Visual equipment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with a strong client service focus. Strong creative abilities while maintaining high professional work standards. Able to simultaneously manage a high level of detail across multiple projects. Able to be flexible and adaptable while maintaining high levels of productivity and effectiveness under pressure. Must be a positive team player.
  • Travel to Tampa & DeLand campuses, as needed.
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule; some nights and weekends may be required.
Computer Skills: Basic knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and various photo and video editing software. Working Knowledge of the Adobe CC Suite (Premiere, Audition, After Effects, Media Encoder etc.)
