Job Description

Pre-production:
  • Location scout for interview sets, B-roll, etc.
  • Attending production sets to help with transportation of equipment and set up of interviews, filming, or sound assistance.

PA (production assistant) on set:
  • Meeting talent/crew needs on set.
  • Relaying messages between crew members on-set.
  • Pressing “record” on certain devices.
  • Shot list supervisor (ensuring we get all correct shots/B-roll).
  • Attending certain events/weekly activities to capture B-roll.
  • Supervising the equipment as it rolls to ensure it is recording.

Post-production:
  • Creating reels out of podcast episodes for platforms such as Instagram, Twitter & LinkedIn.
  • Cutting together B-roll footage into short social media videos (reels) to also include any graphic design elements/branding.

Asset Management
  • Organizing, storing, and filing archival video footage from 2015 or older on office hard drives.
  • Keeping AUSOC YouTube page organized.

Work Environment

  • The position allows for some remote work. The exact balance will likely shift from week to week.
  • This position requires some on-campus presence and at times may require traveling to off-campus (local) film shoots.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • This is a part-time position, up to 10 hours per week.

Pay

  • This position pays $17 per hour.

Requirements

The right candidate for this position should possess the following skills and traits:
  • Patience
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Affects & Adobe Audition)
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Enthusiasm
  • Basic IT skills
  • Adaptability
  • Knowledge of film sets & equipment: basic lighting, camera setup and sound recording

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Must be a current American University student.
  • Undergraduate senior or graduate student preferred.
