Job Description
Position: Vice President, Park Operations Location: Park City, Utah (up to 40% travel) Job Status: Full Time Year-Round POWDR is an adventure lifestyle company that inspires every human being with cool experiences in awesome places. Within POWDR's portfolio are nine mountain resorts including Copper Mountain and Eldora Mountain Resort in Colorado; Killington and Pico Mountain in Vermont; Boreal Mountain Resort and Soda Springs in the Lake Tahoe region of California; Mt. Bachelor in Oregon, Snowbird in Utah and SilverStar Mountain Resort in British Columbia, Canada. We are actively bidding new Forest Service Permits and National Park Concession Contracts and anticipate the Parks Division portfolio will grow substantially over the years to come. Job Summary: You will oversee all park operations, from start-up to day-to-day operations and capital projects. General Managers for each park location will be your direct reports. With the approval of the Parks President and collaboration with the POWDR ELT, you will manage the P&L, contract compliance, operating plans, and ensure the appropriate policies and procedures are implemented at each property. Along with the Parks President, you will also manage relationships with our government partners, the National Park Service and US Forest Service. Managing partner expectations and excelling on performance reviews and audits is paramount. You will incorporate a hospitality mindset and best-in-class safety standards into all aspects of operations. You will actively cultivate a safe, friendly, and fun work environment where outdoor adventure and environmental stewardship are embraced. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Strategic:


  • Co-develop and execute POWDR's strategic plan and adventure lifestyle ethos at Park locations.
  • Success at building relationships and collaborating cross-functionally across the organization.
  • Co-develop and execute annual and five-year financial plans each park location, including capital projects and P&L. Operations:
  • Work with GM's to enhance and/or develop, implement, and enforce the policies and procedures of the organization.
  • Provide resources and develop management teams to build a thriving Parks Division.
  • 10+ years' experience in the hospitality industry, with proven success in P&L management in a senior leadership role at the resort/property level.
  • Proven track record of building and leading high performing teams.
  • Keep the Parks President informed on all matters of importance and maintain open and honest communications. Community:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, accounting, marketing, or related field required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Ensure compliance and high scores on performance reviews for all park concessions contracts and permits.
  • Lead and / or participate in all Resort Leadership Team and Quarterly Planning and Budget/Business Planning Meetings.
  • Capacity to communicate effectively in writing and verbally across all levels of the organization and across multiple aspects of the community and industry.
  • Work with GM's to establish, implement, and enforce best-in-class guest and employee safety standards in accordance with company policies and procedures as well as local, state and federal laws.
  • Ability to drive performance across multiple concepts through the creation of frameworks, process, and best practice sharing.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for Park and Forest Service legal matters including coordinating communications with general counsel.
  • Working knowledge of computers including MS Office Suite.
  • Sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgement, and strong operational focus.
  • Proven track record of innovation and change management, with the ability to quickly pivot business strategies, policies, procedures, and practices to meet business objectives
  • Able to work under minimal supervision with a high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Meet or exceed location budgets through successful leadership, team building, and expense management.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
  • Ensure the ESQ (environment, safety, quality) management system is implemented at each park location.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule with extensive travel.
  • Create, participate in, and maintain strong relationships with Park Service and Forest Service staff, the local community, guests, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Serves as the primary spokesperson and representative for park operations, able to promote the company though media and personal appearances. Other Duties as Assigned:
  • Demonstrated track record of effective execution, including revenue growth and profit enhancement through efficient and streamlined operations.
