Job Description
Vice President of Operations/General Manager


DEPARTMENT: Operations


FLSA : Exempt


SUMMARY:


The Vice President of Operations/General Manager will oversee daily operations, including customer service, manufacturing, and product development, for our client, a furniture manufacturer. Reporting to the President, this role requires a strong manufacturing background with a business mindset. The VP/General Manager will collaborate closely with the Sales team to support the companys initiatives and strategies.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Foster a culture of "pride and ownership" among all associates.
  • Manage and supervise operations functions, striving for world-class quality, delivery, and cost efficiency; redefine goals and objectives as needed to improve performance.
  • Oversee the maintenance of machinery, equipment, and building.
  • Take timely corrective actions in accordance with company policy and regulations.
  • Establish procedures for maintaining high manufacturing standards and product quality.
  • Direct and coordinate various essential manufacturing programs (e.g., training, safety, cost reduction).
  • Initiate and coordinate major projects to improve operations (e.g., plant layout changes, capital equipment installation).
  • Develop guidelines for best practices and standard processes to drive long-term value.
  • Stay informed about relevant information and technology to drive innovation and ensure compliance.
  • Lead the operations teams in adopting lean/continuous improvement methods and establishing a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Identify and implement changes to improve productivity, reduce costs, and monitor scrap and rework data.
  • Act as a liaison between different management levels to facilitate effective communication and decision-making.
  • Develop and implement the annual business plan and strategy to achieve financial objectives.
  • Oversee department managers and ensure compliance with manufacturing and safety procedures.
  • Work with company officers and senior staff to implement long and short-range planning, policies, programs, and objectives related to furniture manufacturing.
  • Implement best sourcing practices and lead cost savings projects.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:


  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Extensive experience in manufacturing-based technology, processes, and principles.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in process improvement, manufacturing engineering, supply chain, and quality fields.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with others.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


  • At least 5 years of experience in managing the manufacturing process.
  • Experience in overseeing the P&L of a company.
  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing management, preferably in a process-oriented operations or related industry.
  • BA/BS in industrial, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering or a related discipline.


DESIRABLES:


Furniture industry experience.
