This is a remote position.


VP of Engineering


Certificial, the creator of the Smart COI NetworkTM, has transformed how insurance coverage information is shared between Agencies, Suppliers, and their Customers. We’re a fast-growing InsurTech that is in search of a VP of Engineering to expand our leadership team and build a world-class engineering team.


As the VP of Engineering, your primary responsibility will be to scale the Certificial platform and engineering team to support millions of daily transactions and build new functionality to support the new standard for verifying insurance coverage.


What you’ll do:


  • Develop Certificial’s long-term technology strategy
  • Perform engineering tasks that require deep technical knowledge of Amazon Web Services, API, UI / UX coding, Security, and Encryption
  • Build reusable infrastructure components
  • Optimize, design, and operationally manage the Certificial Platform, APIs, and Integration services
  • Monitor development progress and manage resources to ensure product deadlines are met
  • Scope and build new features and functionality from conception through production
  • Own the engineering budget and measurement of qualitative and quantitative targets
  • Support the development cycles of new product features and manage the development of a three-sided platform and business model (Insurance Agencies & Brokers, Insured / Suppliers, and Requestors)
  • Establish engineering and security best practices to ensure product compliance and data protection regulations
  • Collaborate with the leadership team, specifically Product Management to set the Product Roadmap
  • Act as a liaison to Customer Engineering teams to assist with their API integration to the Certificial Smart COI Network
  • Hire and develop Engineering team members


Other Functions:


  • Ability to plan schedules and organize workload to meet deadlines
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Ability to work with a high-performing, fast-paced team
  • Work cross-functionally with other teams


What you’ll bring:


  • Deployment experience with CodeCommit, CodeDeploy, and SNS Amazon services
  • Hands-on Amazon Lambda, VPC, IAM, RDS, EC2, Java, Spring, and Maven API
  • BS or MS in Computer Science, related technical field, or equivalent experience
  • B2B SaaS and insurance industry experience required
  • Make connections between technical delivery and product development
  • 10+ years in an engineering environment, 5+ years of direct architecture or management
  • Experience working with Clients to utilize API’s
  • Experience with a two-sided or three-sided marketplace SaaS product
  • Other software languages (Redux, React, Django, and Python)


Compensation:


  • This role will receive a competitive base salary, bonus, benefits, and options. The base salary range for US-based employees is $50,000-$500,000.
  • Various factors are considered when determining someone's leveling and compensation, including a candidate's professional background and experience.
