Job Description

Our growing private equine veterinary practice is searching for an Operations Manager.Our mission is to provide the best possible ambulatory and clinical veterinary services to the equine community of the tri-state region and we need a strong leadership oriented candidate to assist the practice partners in achieving this goal including excellent client service, marketing and promotion of services, staffing and human resources, and discretionary activities, that serve to support effective business operations.


You must also be comfortable working in a pet friendly office with a business casual environment.


Salary commensurate with experience and starting at $65,000.00. Full benefits package including paid time off, health, dental and vision insurance. Short term/long term disability, option to purchase life insurance, employee discount program for veterinary services.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

·Recruit, interview, hire and oversee the training of new administrative and technical staff

·Oversee the daily workflow of the clinic

·Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations

·Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy

·Monitor employee competence and effectiveness.

·Ensure that policies, guidelines and recommendations are quickly communicated to

hospital staff and adequate training follows.


Additional Responsibilities:

·Collaborate with senior leadership to understand the practice’s goals and strategies related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.

·Plan hospital management meetings with partners.

·Organize monthly staff meeting agenda in conjunction with staff and partners

·Aid in developing marketing strategies

·Administer and oversee human resource programs including compensation, benefits and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; recognition and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.

·Facilitate professional development, training, and certification activities for administrative and technical staff.


Required skills:

·Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines

·Strong problem solving and conflict management skills

·Ability to take information obtained from clients, staff, and other sources, discern that

which is credible and assess the hospital and its operation objectively.

·Must be able to handle multiple tasks at once in an

environment of changing priorities.

·Adaptable to the needs of the practice and employees

·Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate

·Highly computer proficient with strong skills in Microsoft Office suite and the ability to quickly learn medical records/accounting software and benefits management program.


Education and experience:

·Degree in Business Administration or related field or at least 5 years experience in a strong leadership role. Background in managing service oriented operations.

·Veterinary and horse experience is valuable but not required
