Veterinary Clinical Pathology Laboratory Technician 2

This position works in clinical laboratories of the Veterinary Medical Center; performs routine laboratory procedures in hematology, urinalysis, hemostasis, cytology, chemistry, microbiology, and blood bank, using laboratory instrumentation and established protocols; calibrates and maintains laboratory equipment, executes quality control program; maintains inventory of reagents and supplies; reports laboratory data to veterinary faculty, students and outside practitioners utilizing a laboratory information management system; prepares send-out samples for shipment to reference laboratories; performs other duties as requested; flexible hours to be arranged including days, evenings, weekends and on-call; some overtime may be required.
Minimum Education Required
RVT or MLT with an associate’s degree from a qualified program. And/or Bachelor of science in relevant field. Thank you.
Required Qualifications
Licensed RVT and/or certified MLT (or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire; If not certified applicant must obtain certification within 1 year of hire) and/or BS
Desired: associates degree in medical laboratory technology or biological sciences with an MLT certification
Unusual Working Conditions: Exposure to zoonotic diseases, potential animal inflicted injury, and animal dander. Work requires staring at computer screens for long periods of time.

The targeted hiring range for this position is $23.65 - $29.57 per hour commensurate with education and experience.

The individual in this position will be working around chemical reagents, biological samples, bio hazardous materials, exposure to animal dander; sharp focus vision, vision with microscope, color vision; finger dexterity; occasional lifting of more than 20 lbs.
