Veterinary Medicine and Surgery
We are seeking registered Veterinary Technicians who embrace their passion for animals. Our facility, located at Clydesdale Hall, provides state-of-the-art teaching and medical services. In addition to regular check-ups and preventive health care for companion animals and livestock, we feature specialized treatment such as emergency medicine and critical care, soft tissue surgery, dentistry, ophthalmology, neurology, oncology, dermatology, cardiology and orthopedic surgery.
Veterinary Technician Job Responsibilities:
- Conducts initial exam of animal taking vital signs, drawing blood and gathering medical histories. Collect specimens.
- Administers medication prescribed by a veterinarian
- Cleaning and organizing treatment and examination rooms
- Monitor critically ill patients
- Educate animal owners on treatment plans, behavior changes, feeding, exercise and overall wellness for their animals
- Teach veterinary students
- Update animal patient medical records
- Provide emergency first aid as necessary
- Calm animal patients down
- Support the veterinarian during surgery or other procedures
- Safely restrain animals for procedures
- Prepare animals and equipment for surgical procedures
- Assist in research
- Care for animals in treatment
Salary
Salary Range: Hiring at $23.00 - 26.00/hour
Grade: GGS 8
University Title: Veterinary Technician Lead

Shift
Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an AVMA accredited Veterinary Technology Program.
Licensure as a Registered Veterinary Technician in the State of Missouri, or eligibility to obtain Missouri Licensure within 6 months after start date.
Must have 5 years of experience as a VT and three years of experience demonstrating skills for scheduling, mentoring, evaluation, etc.
A BS degree in Veterinary Technology could substitute for two years administrative experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Must have excellent communication skills, to interact with pet owners and veterinary staff. Must have an understanding of animal behavior and strong clinical skills in order to properly evaluate an animal’s condition and provide treatment. Must be detailed-oriented and well organized to take medical histories, carry out instructions, document patient statistics and update records. Enjoy working with animals and have the ability to comfort, handle and restrain large and small pets.
