GAP is the longest established gastroenterology practice in the Piedmont Triad area. This independent, physician-owned GI practice is looking for a Pathology Lab Manager/Histotechnician for our Pathology Lab. GAP evaluates new patients, performs consultations and conducts follow-up visits for chronic gastrointestinal conditions. Our offices draw and assess labs, administer injections and monitor medication therapies. We offer on-site infusion services and our clinical staff assist with a variety of in-office procedures. When appropriate, GAP schedules appointments for outpatient screening, diagnostic and/or treatment procedures. Our endoscopy centers are physician-owned outpatient ambulatory surgical centers which specialize in colon cancer screening and prevention as well as a number of other procedures including endoscopy, Interstim Bowel Control Therapy and Orbera gastric balloon weight loss therapy.

- Oversite of quality and overall technical operations of small GI pathology lab.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment and troubleshoot minor equipment failures. Document remedial actions such as repairs and repeated tests.
- Preparation of gastroenterology samples for pathology evaluation, including accessioning, grossing, fixation, processing, embedding, sectioning, and specialized Immunohistochemistry staining techniques
- Perform filing of finished blocks and slides.
- Other duties, as assigned by supervisor.
- Responsible for daily oversight of pathology lab operations.
- Ensure compliance with all local, federal, CLIA and CAP regulations.
- Ensure proper accessioning and labeling of all tissue samples.
- Perform cover slipping of stained slides either manually or automated.
- Perform microtomy of embedded tissue.
- Process paperwork associated with accessioning and reporting.
- Ensure all corporate safety, quality control and quality assurance standards are met.
- Perform limited special stain procedures, under general supervision.
- Ensure proper tissue processing. Embed processed tissue in paraffin.
- Prepare slides for routine Hematoxylin and Eosin staining.
- Maintain a clean and well-organized work area.
- Prepare solutions and reagents for special stain procedures.
- Adhere to laboratory's quality control policies and document all quality control activities.
Minimum of one (1) year experience in medical specialty practice preferred. Five years of Histotech experience and 2 years of management experience minimum.
