OVERVIEW
The Valet Supervisor will supervise the valet department which consists of accommodating safe transportation of the guests vehicles to the designated area. The position is critical as this is the first impression a guest will come across and Resolute Road Hospitality holds first impressions as one of the most important interactions a guest will have during their stay. They will also assist guests with storing and retrieving their luggage from the van.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Knowledgeable of all safety and vehicle regulations and emergency procedures and how to act upon them
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor or management
- Transport the guest’s vehicle to and from the hotel designated parking area when requested
- Follow Company policies and procedures and effectively communicate them to subordinates
- Maintain professional image at all times through appearance and dress, including proper uniform as specified by assigned manager
- Assist with creating a schedule and anticipate the volume of vehicles during the shifts
- Have knowledge of the hotel property, hotel staff, van service area, and hotel services with hours of operation
- Maintain vehicle mileage log at beginning and end of each trip indicating mileage, time, name, and date
- Adhere to all work rules, procedures and policies established by the company including, but not limited to those contained in the associate handbook
- Proper handling of guest keys and personal items
- Operate hotel in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws including OSHA, EEOC, wage and hour, and health code laws
- Provide the highest quality of service to the customer at all times
- Must report all accidents and/or traffic violations immediately
- Assist with the Houseman in maintaining the entrance area of the hotel
- Ensure that all luggage unloaded/unloaded for the guests.
- Repeatedly move luggage or packages weighing at least 50 lbs.
- Only the driver will load/unload luggage from the vehicle
- Assist with training of the valet team
- Respond to guest requests and complaints timely, efficiently, appropriately and in a friendly manner
- Upon arrival at hotel, refer passengers to Front Desk for registration as driver uploads luggage
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
- Able to work in fast paced environment
- Must be able to observe safety and security procedures, report potentially unsafe conditions, and use equipment properly
- Able to prioritize, organize, and manage multiple tasks
- Proficiently speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language; ability to speak other languages in a multicultural work environment can be extremely helpful in facilitating good communication among all hotel team members and guests
- Able to read and write to facilitate the communication process
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision and desire to participate as part of a team
EDUCATION
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
EXPERIENCE
Previous valet driving experience preferred, specifically in the hotel industry.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES
A valid driver's license with an acceptable 3-year driving record required under Resolute Road Hospitality Management’s vehicle insurance policy.
ENVIRONMENT and PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Most work will be performed indoors in moderate temperatures, controlled by hotel environmental systems. May need to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods of time (5 hours or more). Must be able to bend, kneel, climb ladders, crouch and/or climb into precarious places, and handle heavy and bulky equipment. Finger dexterity to operate tools and equipment as well as office equipment, including but not limited to computer keyboard, multi-touch phone, photocopier among others, required.
Must be able to exert well-paced ability to load and unload the shuttle in a timely manner.
Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception. Talking and hearing continuously in the process of communicating with guests and employees.
Employee may be subjected to moderate to loud noise levels, outdoor weather conditions, work in precarious places, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently, up to 100 pounds occasionally. Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing in excess of 300 pounds in the event of an emergency.
OTHER
Valet Supervisor may be required to work varying schedules as dictated by the business needs of the hotel. This includes attendance at all scheduled brand and job specific training sessions and meetings. May require nights, weekends, and holidays.
Consistent attendance in accordance with the standards set forth by Resolute Road Hospitality must be maintained and is an essential element of the success in this role. If the Shuttle Driver is unable to meet these requirements, he/she will be subject to disciplinary action based on franchisee operating policies, up to and including termination of employment.
