Job Description

UX & UI Designer

Main Function of Job Role:

If you’re looking for an opportunity with a firm that’s going places, you’ve just found it. We’ve created a different type of consultancy – the firm that we want. We’re growing fast and we’re evolving. So fast in fact, we’ve just been listed as one of the fastest-growing consulting firms in the US*. Challenging ineffective convention is what we will always do, changing the game in our own industry and helping our clients change the game in theirs.

As a UX/UI designer at Elixirr you’ll be working cross-functionally with our consulting teams to create user centered designs, products and assets that are intuitive, engaging and grounded in creating value for the businesses we work with. The objective is to surpass our clients’ expectations whilst working within the often-tight constraints of project deadlines and budgets.

The role covers each stage of the design process from conducting user research, gathering requirements, creating personas, developing prototypes and running test and validate cycles. To creating creative high-fidelity development ready prototypes and visual assets and helping with the facilitation of design thinking workshops.

Overall, the role of a UX/UI designer at Elixirr is to create digital products that are user-cantered, visually appealing, and highly functional.

The challenge:

  • Creating an overall vision for projects, communicating these to the client and visual design and development teams.
  • Producing Information Architecture outputs for sites including sitemaps, wireframes, prototypes, functional specifications.
  • Creating user personas while understanding & developing user journeys to suit user types and behaviours.
  • Generating wireframes and, through iterative development and user testing, produce high-fidelity prototypes that translate user research into actionable, user-validated design solutions.
  • Attending and leading client meetings and workshops on client locations and at in office to gather information from multiple stakeholders on client and user requirements.
  • Strong comprehension of design thinking methodologies and mindsets
  • Conducting usability reviews/analysis & competitor analysis.
  • Undertaking research activities in various environments including focus groups, telephone enquiry and in the field surveys and interviews.
  • Developing and running user testing at various stages within a project using a variety of means including remote testing, lab testing and contextual testing.
  • Presenting, justifying and negotiating the recommendations made to clients.
  • Conducting user research to understand user behaviours, needs, and motivations to create comprehensive user personas and current vs future state customer journey maps.
  • Working independently to deliver IA outputs and specification documentation.
  • Designing user surveys and interview discussion guides to inform outputs.
  • Designing visual interfaces and interactive elements using industry-standard design tools (Figma, Sketch etc.). with Figma – showing a sophisticated understanding of component libraries, generating design systems and prototyping.
  • Collaborating with other team members such as consultants, developers, product managers, digital strategists and client teams to ensure deliverables (e.g. prototypes/ design files/ UI Kits/ design systems/ presentations) are on time and meet the required quality standards.
  • Conducting and leading UX research. Including running interviews, task-based testing and analyzing feedback to iterate on design solutions and make improvements.

Skills & Competence Required:

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate within different departments to gather insights and the ability to take ownership of the full design process (research through to testing and dev handover) and work as a self-directed member of the project team. (essential)
  • Knowledge of HTML & CSS (desired)
  • Well organised with exceptional attention to detail – (essential)
  • Experience of web design, and design best practices (desired)
  • Strong communication, client presentation and liaison skills – both written and verbal (essential)
