About the Role:

We are hiring a US Soccer News Writer. The successful candidate will write news stories on the topics that matter to our US audience - USMNT, USWNT, MLS, NWSL, Liga MX, Mexico NT, Wrexham and more. They will be responsible for sourcing stories, writing engaging headlines and copy, and creating imagery. They will understand what US users want to read about and find the most popular stories. They will use social media to find fresh angles and also write SEO articles on competitions, trending topics and more.

This position is based in New York. We offer competitive compensation and a bonus scheme.

What you'll be doing:

● Writing news and SEO stories for our US audience

● Sourcing stories and finding new angles to make the most of popular topics

● Generating engaging headlines and writing clean, accurate copy quickly

● Using a content management system to publish articles

● Homepage management and sending app notifications

● Covering live matches, soccer showbiz stories and more

● Using data to inform decisions and improve performance

What you have:

● Excellent knowledge of US soccer, plus USMNT/USWNT players in Europe

● Excellent knowledge of Mexican soccer, plus Mexican players in Europe

● Ability to source stories and find new angles that readers care about

● Write engaging copy and headlines, while ensuring SEO best practices

● Experience of sub-editing and the ability to spot mistakes and improve copy

● Experience of homepage management and sending of app notifications

● Finger on the pulse of what US readers are most interested in

● Ability to cover live matches with match reports, player ratings and other content

Desirable:

● An interest in analytics, data, and using data to drive insights and performance

● Language skills
