Description of job responsibility/duty:This employee will take photographs of people, programs and events in a variety of settings, including studio, classrooms, laboratories, clinics, off-campus locations and, occasionally athletic venues at East Carolina University. The employee will use university-provided equipment and must be fluent in its use. Employee will manipulate digital images on a personal computer using software to finalize the images This position requires a high level of photographic technical skills and attention to detail for accuracy, such as collecting the names of subjects and other information to accompany the photographs. The employee will have routine and independent contact with ECU faculty, staff and students, and members of the public and must have the ability to establish a rapport with subjects. Employee must be able to visualize, photograph, and edit photos. Photography is done independently for use in a variety of digital and print purposes. The employee must have working knowledge of the Associated Press Stylebook for the production of captioned material.

Description of job responsibility/duty:Employee must distribute edited photos in a variety of formats for use by UC and other university offices requiring high-quality digital images. They will need to be familiar with existing policies regarding the release of confidential patient, faculty, staff and student information. The employee will be responsible for contributing images for the university photographer Instagram account, ECU Views.

Description of job responsibility/duty:Maintain files of photo images and develop methods to disseminate those images. The requirement for accuracy is most important as the photographs are distributed for use in university publications and archived for future university use/reference. The employee will research and work with colleagues to determine the best archive solutions for the digital images being produced. This archive needs to be continually accessible and secure for future university needs.

Description of job responsibility/duty: Consult with colleagues and various university employees on photography needs and schedule photography assignments on a shared calendar. This includes regular email communication and one-on-one meetings with clients. The employee will work with other university photographers, project leads and their supervisor to assign and plan photography projects and assignments. This position will work with colleagues to plan and organize photography sessions, determine the events to be photographed and the styles and formats needed for each assignment. The photographer will be expected to provide their insight into photography best practices. The employee will meet with clients independently to help determine what is needed for requested assignments. Photographer will also collaborate with the University video team when appropriate.

Description of job responsibility/duty:Employee must stay up to date on photography equipment and techniques, including cameras and lenses and computer hardware and software. The work performed by this employee is subject to radical changes in technology. The employee will be required to keep up with these changes and position the office on the cutting edge when feasible. The employee will also stay up to date on the latest social media photography trends and research visual arts trends in higher education. This includes self-directed learning to stay ahead of visual trends. The employee will help maintain and organize gear and manage pooled equipment shared by staff members.

Minimum Education/Experience
High school diploma or equivalency and two years of visual/graphic arts experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

License or Certification required by statute or regulation

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Experience taking photos in a professional setting and working with clients; skilled in digital photography and photo editing software such as PhotoShop. Experience maintaining photos for archival purposes. Licensed to use a drone or willingness to train and become licensed. Experience in providing photos for social media purposes.
