Underwriter (Hybrid)
Summary
This position serves as an underwriter inside an Underwriting Team whose mutual goal is to select and price risk shown in client applications. This position oversees the support and service to current and potential clients during their time as policyholders with TitlePac, Inc. Reporting to a manager or executive, the underwriter is at an advanced level of knowledge/difficulty and works with minimal supervisory direction. Work in this position consists primarily of routine and non-routine scenarios involving the need to determine the acceptability of risk factors on behalf of the carrier. Commonly negotiates coverages offered and pricing.
The ideal candidate for this position is a self-starter who is detail oriented and highly efficient with minimal oversight after training, is a problem solver and has excellent written and oral communication skills,
Essential Duties & Functions include:
  • Recommend methods for promotion of policies or improvements to processes.
  • Review and evaluate applications (new and renewal) to confirm that information is appropriate to determine underwriting actions and when exceptions or opportunities for presentation of additional coverages exist.
  • Appropriately determines opportunities to operate outside of standard carrier and/or agency criteria and coordinates potential solutions.
  • Perform file reviews or assist with any audits as directed by the Insurance Operations Liaison.
  • Workflow includes creation and maintenance of reports, appeals, files, correspondence, or contacts as assigned.
  • Responsible for staying current on industry news and understanding how it relates or impacts the various coverage we offer.
  • Recommend acceptance or declination of risks based on evaluation of application data and information gathered from Broker and/or Client.
  • Compliance with the guidelines of any in-house insurance program.
  • Contact renewal policyholders or their insurance agents to request/follow up on renewal applications along with new and renewal quotes

Required
  • Underwriting experience preferred.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • College bachelor’s degree in business or financial related discipline preferred.
  • Oklahoma P&C Insurance License required within 90 days of hire. The company pays licensing costs for its teammates.
  • Proficient with MS Office/Office 365.
  • Exceptional telephone demeanor.
