Job Description

The University Recruiter will report to the Director of Strategic Enrollment Management.

The Director of Strategic Enrollment Management engages in all phases of student recruitment and counseling activities, reviews admissions applications, represents the university at local and regional recruitment events, and coordinates special on and off-campus recruitment programs. There is 8 weeks of travel with a metric of 3 schools per day, 5 days per week equating to 100-120 visits plus attending college fairs in the evening whenever possible. The university anticipates that the university recruiter will generate an equitable number of student applications based on annual goals.

Responsibilities

  • Build relationships including outreach with external high schools, community colleges, and community organizations.
  • Recruitment of students and the evaluation and follow through of applied students.
  • Serves as representative of college in recruitment affairs and activities, educating potential students on opportunities at D’Youville as well as on factors that lead to a strong application.
  • During a dedicated travel season of approximately 8 weeks, travels both regionally and nationally within specified recruitment territory.
  • Work together with the Director of Strategic Enrollment Management to collaborate with Marketing, Athletics, Alumni Relations and other departments to continue development of the D’Youville Brand.
  • Serves as a professional administrator and university representative dedicated to the recruitment of traditional, transfer, and non-traditional students to the college. Engages in activities which assist, support and transition applicants to enrollees.
  • Answers all inquiries regarding admission standards, policies, programs, financial aid, and general information regarding the college.
  • Provides insight into scholarship resources and communicates the value of a D’Youville education in order to assist students in finding a good fit.
  • Reviews applications and determines the admissibility of students.
  • Maintains regular communication with prospective students and applicants.
  • Participates in recruitment travel and college fairs.
  • Coordinates on and off-campus recruitment events for prospective students ranging in size from personal appointments to larger open houses.
  • Contributes to communication planning and publication content as well as group presentations.

Required Qualifications

  • Approximately 20 percent of annual worktime is dedicated to travel and may be adjusted based on the needs of the institution. There is 8 weeks of travel during peak season with a metric of 3 schools per day, 5 days per week equating to 120 visits plus attending college fairs in the evening. Additional off-season travel may be required.
  • Possess strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with current MS Office and social networking practices.
  • Able to represent and promote the college in a competitive environment.
  • Able to identify and recruit students who are desirable enrollees for the college
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Possess good interpersonal skills as well as a sincere interest in student well-being and success.
  • Engender self-motivation with appropriate energy level

Job Specifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Higher Education, Marketing, or Business preferred.
  • Minimum 1 to 3 years sales, strong customer service experience.
  • Three to five years previous experience in admissions recruitment and counseling preferred.

Physical & Environmental Requirements:

  • Mental/Visual Demand and Physical Effort
  • For normal office environment must be able to lift 25 lbs. from floor level.
  • Must be able to lift and maneuver normal size full file box for archival purposes.
  • Must be able to occasional bend, twist, and stoop.
  • Frequent typing of computer keyboard.
