Transportation Manager Jobs

Location University Park, IL Department Dot Transportation, Inc (DTI) Reports To Director of Transportation

Your Role To provide service to internal and external customers and manage/ contain costs while effectively managing the driver or dispatching staff.

• Leads continuous improvement efforts while applying lean thinking and tools to eliminate waste.
• Addresses/ resolves customer issues.
• Assists in recruiting, retention and hiring of transportation department staff.
• Coordinates with dispatch for efficient and effective fleet resource utilization.
• Assists with budget preparation and execution.
• Manages the on-board computer system and hours of service for all drivers.
• Assists with vehicle safety issues.
• Utilizes team and equipment in a cost-effective manner.
• Supports overall dispatch, traffic, and driver management goals.

Role Specifics

• Travel – Occasional overnight travel to other company facilities or outside facilities for training. Must have ability to travel independently as needed, without restriction by all modes of transportation, including car, plane, or train.
• Schedule – Ability to work flexible hours (weekend, night shift and on-call) based upon facility needs.

• Prior management experience of 3-5 years minimum
