Tire Service Worker Jobs

Under general supervision, is responsible for repairing, replacing, changing and cataloging old and new tires; and performs related duties as required.

• Coordinates with service centers to ensure all flat tires have been repaired
• Performs welding and mechanical work
• Performs tire repair work on stranded vehicles
• Maintains inventory and orders tire repair items, tires, rims, tubes and other equipment or materials
• Performs other duties as required
• Inspects condition of tires on all vehicles and road construction equipment
• Removes, repairs or replaces tires, rims and tubes

• May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek
• Required to be on-call 24-hours a day
• Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
• Knowledge of tire changing equipment including hydraulic jacks; knowledge of tire removal; knowledge of tire inspection procedures; knowledge of tread wear limits; knowledge of safety standards and practices
• Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test
• Skill in the operation of heavy tire changing equipment and tools
• Must have a valid Texas Class C driver's license
• Ability to perform tread wear inspections; ability to handle and repair different size tires; ability to drive different road equipment and vehicles; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County employees, outside vendors and the general public
• High School or General Education Development (GED) certificate, and three (3) years experience in the removal, replacement and repair of tires; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

• Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions
• Working conditions are primarily outdoors
• Will frequently communicate with co-workers; must be able to exchange accurate information
• Frequently moves equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, occasionally moves objects weighing up to 100 pounds
• Constantly operates tools and equipment
• Constantly positions self to perform essential functions
• Frequently moves about vehicles and buildings
• Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, insect and animal bites, poisonous plants, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
