Tig Welder/Fabricator Jobs

• TIG welding stainless steel

Joins metal components, and fills seams of metal components. Follows blueprints and specifications. Inspects equipment and structure. Must be competent in using potentially dangerous equipment following all safety precautions. The ideal candidate will also have a steady hand and great attention to detail. Knowledge of different kinds of metal and their properties is essential.

Responsibilities And Duties

• Clean and prepare surfaces to be welded ensuring that there is no loose or thick scale, slag, rust, moisture, grease, or other foreign matter
• Safely move work-pieces into position, with forklifts or overhead cranes
• Monitor the fitting, burning and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of the material
• Perform MIG, TIG and other types of weld based on project needs
• Study Blueprints and Bill of Materials (BOM's) to determine material requirements and task sequences; verify conformance of materials according to layout and blueprint specifications using squares, rulers and measuring tapes
• Position, align, fit, clamp, tack, and weld parts in the assigned work area
• Other duties assigned
• De-bur and grind metal as necessary to achieve proper surface texture
• Interpret blueprints and weld symbols; weld parts in flat, vertical or overhead positions using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment

Required Qualifications And Skills

• Ability to interact and communicate effectively with peers, supervisors, and upper management
• Basic math skills and mechanical aptitude
• Knowledge of physical properties and welding characteristics of a variety of metals
• 1-3 years of experience in welding
• High school diploma/GED preferred
• Knowledge of industry safety practices
• Ability to use a variety of tools and equipment
• Ability to read blueprints and recognize welding symbols and specifications
• Ability to use heavy machinery, such as forklifts and cranes (Forklift Certification)
• Ability to access data on a computer and accurately enter information

Preferred Abilities And Knowledge

• Formal training through a vocational or technical school
• Relevant Welder or Welding Fabricator Certifications
