CAT Team Sarasota Desoto County
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Two years’ experience working with children and their families. Valid Florida driver’s license with a safe driving record.
Special Skills, Knowledge And Abilities
Knowledge and understanding of the characteristics of children with mental health issues, their families, and family systems. Willingness to work on a comprehensive treatment team. Highly motivated, self-directed, willing to work a variety of hours, including evening and on-call.
Essential Functions
  • Provide on-call services during nighttime and weekend hours as assigned.
  • Provide transportation, tutoring and respite services to children and families as assigned.
  • Provide support to child and family as a role model teaching life skills, positive discipline, parenting skills, financial responsibility and homemaking skills.
  • Report observations during bi-weekly meetings.
  • Conduct on-going observation of behavior, mental status, signs and symptoms mental health disorder, physical and dental health, substance use, and educational, social, developmental and family functioning.
  • Will engage clients in weekly, at minimum, community outings to develop and enhance age appropriate social skills
  • Participate in the treatment planning process.
  • Will meet productivity requirements of at least 70% as set by management
  • Identify child and family strengths, challenges and weaknesses.
  • Assist families with developing natural support systems.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Act as liaison with the school system, community agencies and families to maintain coordination of services and advocate for child and family’s rights and needs.
  • Reports to work as scheduled on a daily basis to perform job duties to facilitate the development of therapeutic relationships with clients and to facilitate consistent client services.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
Services are conducted primarily in the community, spends time in outpatient behavioral health settings and operates in a professional office environment; can be exposed to various health conditions. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to observe treatment environments and to use speech and hearing to interact with others in person, via telephone, using computer technology and in writing. Reasonable accommodations will be made as needed.
Position Type, Expected Hours Of Work And Travel
This is a full time, hourly position. Routine days and hours of work are Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm. Some evening and on-call hours required to meet client needs.
