The Tesla Energy Compliance team is looking for a test engineer passionate about our mission to accelerate the transition to sustainable energy and ready to help us push the boundaries of continuous integration and product compliance validation tests. You will support development of test automation sequences and analyses running 24/7 firmware and software regression tests on high-power battery systems, EV chargers and solar products. These tests will serve to enable faster and more efficient firmware and software development to quickly deliver new features and upgrades to our customers.
In this role you will support testing of high-power inverters, energy storage systems and other Tesla Energy products. You’ll be responsible for designing test fixtures used for Tesla product worldwide market entry, detailing test methodologies, performing and optimizing a wide variety of mechanical and electrical tests, data acquisition/analysis and presentation of results to wider teams.
- Energy & charging product test validation & data analysis which includes high power grid-connect batteries, EV chargers, solar products
- Full ownership of end-to-end product compliance validation testing
- Support product safety testing, troubleshooting and bug fixing
- Work with Tesla cross functional Teams (ME, EE, SW and FW teams)
- Maintain Python tools for data acquisition, communications, test execution, and automated post-processing
- Monitor automation tool performance to quickly detect and fix issues
- Convert problem statements to specification requirements
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of power systems, low and high voltage power electronic systems
- Familiarity with test equipment communication interface such as SCPI, Modbus and CAN
- Experience with test automation and data analysis in Python
- Experience with embedded computing (microcontrollers, DSPs and PLCs)
- Experience with a multitude of laboratory test equipment and data acquisition tools ranging from oscilloscopes, power analyzers to high power AC amplifiers
- Degree in electrical and electronic engineering or related + 3-5 years professional experience
- High voltage/power experience
- 2 Years’ experience in a laboratory testing environment
- Proven track record in renewable product testing for Compliance or Validation
