SPA has a near-term need for a Test Engineer.
Responsibilities
As a Test Engineer at SPA, you will be assigned to support the US Space Force’s Space Systems Command, Operational Command and Control Acquisition Delta, known as Kobayashi Maru (KM). Kobayashi Maru is responsible for continuously delivering impactful software for space operations. The program office’s mission includes the development and deployment of software for space defense, space domain awareness, and enabling data services.
Your top priority as Test Engineer will be upholding and implementing Test and Evaluation (T&E) activities in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) Instruction 5000.89 and Air Force (AF) Instruction 63-101/20/101. Your next challenge will be devising and executing a DoD, AF, and Space Force compliant Test Strategy for a software intensive program developing and delivering capabilities in a rapid Agile DevSecOps framework.
The key duties associated with this position include but are not limited to the following:

- Assess the strengths and weaknesses of the software enterprise and its individual components and provide recommendations to improve weaknesses or remove deficiencies;
- Effectively facilitate all T&E working groups, events, milestone reviews, demonstrations, and engagements to ensure integrated test requirements are met without obstruction to rapid software delivery.
- Assist in validation and verification that delivered software capability meets Key Performance Parameters, Key System Attributes, Capability Need Statements, and technical performance measures;
- Assist in determining whether the system is operationally effective, suitable, survivable, and safe for its intended use;
- Advise on the required infrastructure, resources, and systems necessary to execute a robust T&E strategy for a software-intensive program;
- Use T&E best practices to objectively assess the progress of system design, compliance with contract/mission requirements, confirm combat capability, and determine continual system improvements once fielded;
- Function as the primary catalyst ensuring all required T&E documentation (e.g., test plans, test results, test schedules, etc.) is complete, thorough, and submitted on time to meet program office deadlines;
- Assist in identifying, managing, and mitigating/resolving risks throughout the software development and delivery life cycle;
- Support and facilitate integrated developmental and operational test activities, including liaison and enablement of the various test agencies and stakeholders;
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Your resume must demonstrate experience:
- Performing systems engineering for an Agile software development program
- Familiarity with DoDI 5000.89
- Successfully executing T&E programs for software intensive weapon systems
- Authoring relevant T&E documents (e.g., test plans, test procedures, test strategies, etc.)
- Minimum 8 years of Systems Engineering experience with the DoD
- Participating in an Integrated Test Team or similar test working groups
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or STEM from an accredited institution
- Foundational understanding of cloud technologies, automated software tests, unit test, regression test, and end-to-end testing
- U.S. Citizenship and possession of a current Secret clearance
- Successfully entering and exiting Developmental Test and Operational Test to earn Operational Acceptance
- One or more of the following certifications is highly desired
- Scrum Certified or equivalent Agile certification
- INCOSE CSEP or equivalent certification
- CompTIA Security+ certification or equivalent
