Job Description
The New School is seeking a Data Science Intern to join our Business Intelligence and Analytics team. Reporting to the Director, Business Intelligence and Analytics, you will work closely with our analysts to gain hands-on experience in developing and deploying data-driven solutions for our university.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work on real-world projects to develop and deploy data-driven solutions for the university
  • Write clean and efficient code to implement data pipelines and algorithms
  • Assist in data collection, preparation, and cleaning tasks
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis and develop predictive models
  • Document and communicate findings and insights to stakeholders
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data and requirements
  • Participate in team meetings and brainstorming sessions


Working Conditions:
This is a full-time, paid internship. The position will work remote, without physical office space at the university. If you’re interested in data science and want to gain hands-on experience in prescriptive and predictive analytics, this internship is the perfect opportunity for you!

Required:
  • Minimum GPA of 3.5.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to adhere to University COVID-19 Policy
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Basic understanding of machine learning concepts and algorithms

  • Interest in education and/or social sciences
  • Previous internship or project experience in a data science or analytics role
  • Familiarity with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or AWS
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI
