Temporary UAV Pilot
We are currently aggressively hiring Temporary UAV Pilots primarily to support routine and rapid response inspections for our energy customers in California. Additional operations will include flying for surveying, conducting UAV training and consulting, and data processing. The Temporary UAV Pilot will align with SkySkopes Innovative, professional and Ethical mentality. UAV pilots may be needed for missions across the country and will need to be able to travel frequently to accomplish the mission. The Temporary UAV Pilot will report to Assistant Operations Manager.
Position Overview:
- Short-term contract through 7/31/23
- All travel and lodging is paid by SkySkopes
- Based out of Camarillo, CA with expected travel to other locations
- Full Time – Regular/OT pay (10 hr./day average)
- Daily Per diem meals allowance
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Coordinates in ground and flight operations efforts to include; planning, execution, briefing, debriefing, and safety
- Collaborate with coworkers, partners, and clients on projects
- Assist with general office duties
- Adhere to established outlined safety policies and procedures
- Operate various UAV Sensors
- Perform preflight checks to assure mission readiness
- Manage and process collected data
- Perform minor integration and maintenance on the aircraft
- Assuring all equipment is; integrated, maintained, inspected
- Perform related duties as assigned
- Execute UAV flight operations in accordance with SkySkopes procedures
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and diagnose minor UAV systems
- Knowledge of all applicable regulations and policies governing UAV
- Innovative, Professional, and Ethical
- Effective oral/written communication skills
- Working knowledge with various UAV cameras and sensors
- Good judgment with the ability to react quickly to hazards
- Demonstrated ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures and Safety protocols
- Ability to work weekends and holidays
- Ability to operate a 4WD motor vehicle through challenging terrain in both urban and remote areas
- Proficient using office equipment and peripherals
- Ability to professionally interact with clients, the public, contractors, and other employees
- Attention to detail
- Proficient using the most current software; Microsoft Office suite; Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Working knowledge and understanding of FAA airspace and how to obtain LAANC authorizations
- Working knowledge of proper safety procedures
- Working knowledge of FAA regulations, including part 107 regulations
- Working knowledge of DJI platforms; M300, M210, & Mavic 2 Pro
- Demonstrated ability to process data and software specific to UAV
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Ability to work in teams in various work environments
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in handling sensitive company and customer information
Education and Experience:
- Current 107 Certificate
- 20 hours or more of commercial UAV flight experience
- Valid Driver’s license and clean driving record
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to pass background and drug screen
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Able to visually track a UAV unassisted (corrective lenses acceptable)
- Able to kneel, crouch, and walk on uneven terrain
- Prolonged periods of standing in outdoor environments
- Ability to walk over various terrain to complete missions
- Able to use hands and fingers to operate flight controls
- Ability to maintain focus and situational awareness
- Being outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
- Ability to work long periods including evenings and weekends
Job Type/Class: Non-Exempt, Hourly, Full-Time, Seasonal
Location: Based out of our office in Camarillo, CA, with travel in various locations
Required travel: 90% - ability leave with a minimum of 72 hours’ notice

Pay: From $30.00 per hour
