REQUIREMENT ARCTOS is seeking an experienced engineering technician to join our team supporting the in-house experimental research within the Turbine Engine Fatigue Facility (TEFF), part of the Turbine Engine Division, Aerospace Systems Directorate, Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL/RQT). Technical support includes operation and maintenance of equipment and facilities; coordination and tracking of facility modifications; installation of research hardware and associated testing apparatuses; and test documentation. Applies technical and practical approaches to ensure engineering testing goals are achieved. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES The Engineering Technician will work with Government customers and other collocated ARCTOS engineers and technicians in the performance of the following duties: Serves as a technician in the TEFF to facilitate experimental test operations in support of the Engine Integrity Branch’s (AFRL/RQTI) engine structures research program. Assists with the research plan execution by instrumenting and installing test specimens, coordinating test plans with the customer, and test execution. Processes test data as required and reports test results to customer. Maintains expertise in the operation of research equipment in the TEFF (e.g., shaker tables, servohydraulic load frames, vibrometers, and custom measurement/test systems). Instructs others in the proper and safe use of this equipment. Complies with standards for safety, security, training, tool control, HAZMAT, parts and supplies accountability, and equipment maintenance. Performs other duties as assigned by customer or supervisor. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to understand, troubleshoot, and resolve issues that arise throughout a project Great organizational and time management abilities to facilitate seamless transition between parallel projects as required Flexible, able to work effectively either independently or in a team environment depending on project needs Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written EDUCATIONAL, CLEARANCE AND CERTIFICATION High school diploma or equivalent Minimum of 3 years (5-10+ years desired) of relevant technical experience in a research or test facility environment Must be U.S. citizen with ability to maintain a security clearance (up to Top Secret) Experience with standard hand tools and basic machining operations Military, civil service, or on-site contractor experience at AFRL, AFLCMC, or other AF/DoD facility PHYSICAL/WORKING ENVIRONMENT Work will primarily be accomplished in the Turbine Engine Fatigue Facility (TEFF), Building 252, Area B, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. Work may occasionally be required in other Aerospace Systems Directorate (AFRL/RQ) facilities located nearby in Area B. TRAVEL Occasional travel is possible and when required will be performed under the guidelines of Federal Travel Regulations (FTR) and/or Joint Travel Regulations (JTR).
