Our People & Places Solutions business – reinforces our drive to improve the lives of people everywhere and epitomizes the "why" of what we do – the tremendous positive impact and value our solutions bring to our communities and society as a whole. From facilities delivering life-saving therapies and ensuring clean water to enabling the connection of people through all modes of transportation and providing access to technology – we're integrating a multitude of these solution elements to build the smart environments of tomorrow.

Start your Jacobs career with a company that inspires and empowers you to deliver your best work so you can evolve, grow and succeed – today and into tomorrow.

Your Impact:

Our rapidly growing Northwest Tunnel and Ground Engineering Group is looking for a Technical Writer to support our team with the project deliverables. This is a full-time position based in our Jacobs’ Bellevue, WA office. Some work may be done remotely but staff must reside in Washington State and must be capable of meeting project-specific meetings and workload demands. The ideal candidate would be present in our Bellevue office a minimum of two days a week.

As a Technical Editor in our Northwest Tunnel and Ground Engineering team, you will:

  • Write, edit, format, and proofread various technical and non-technical deliverables.
  • Work with the discipline leads to develop, adopt, and maintain a discipline-specific writing style guide.
  • Check content for meaning and clarity of ideas, identify incomplete material, flag discrepancies, and work with the author(s) to resolve them.
  • Adhere to client and/or Jacobs brand writing styles, as appropriate.
  • Attend project meetings and act as project coordinator representing the discipline leads.
  • Improve consistency across the discipline deliverables in terms of content and language used.
  • Develop a portfolio of projects that the Northwest Tunnel and Ground Engineering Team supports.
  • Support the development of white papers for the state-of-the-art engineering solutions our team provides across a variety of projects showcasing our unique capabilities and innovative solutions.
  • Develop content for the promotion of the team and projects on social media platforms.
  • Adapt their writing style from technical, to persuasive, to “reader-friendly,” depending on the need and purpose of the deliverable.
  • Support other practice groups such as environmental, design for design-build, etc., as needed and assist with the development of public involvement materials as well as proposal/sales support for our Pacific Northwest sales and operations, when time allows.

Jacobs health and welfare benefits are designed to invest in you, and in the things you care about. Your health. Your well-being. Your security. Your future. Eligible employees and their dependents may elect medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan, and if eligible, a deferred compensation plan, and Executive Deferral Plan. We have an unlimited U.S. Personalized Paid Time Off (PPTO) policy for eligible full-time exempt employees, seven paid holidays, one floating holiday, and caregiver leave. Hired applicants will be able to purchase company stock and have the opportunity to receive a performance discretionary bonus.

The base salary range for this position is $65,700 to $114,900. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Here’s What You’ll Need:
  • BS/BA degree in English, journalism, communications, or other related degree with direct application to current job responsibilities.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in technical writing/editing and strategic public communications.
  • Excellent verbal communications skills, and ability to work in a collaborative group setting and with multi-disciplinary teams working remotely.
  • Willingness to help create, maintain, and adhere to style guides and standard processes.
  • Ability to maintain thorough documentation and uphold organized methodology to transparent changes/revision.
