Job Description
Position Summary
The Technical Writer is responsible for coordinating multiple cross-functional writers and teams in gathering, authoring and publishing clear, concise and high-quality content using our knowledge management technology. This position will work collaboratively with various business areas including Pricing and Financial Operations, business owners and subject matter experts (SMEs) to create business-critical controlled documentation, such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Enrollment Guides, etc. In addition, this position will project manage the training/documentation portion of large-scale system implementations to ensure alignment between training materials and controlled documentation. This position will also perform quality assurance on SOPs developed by other writers to ensure adherence to set styles and standards and work closely with a SOP Advisory Committee.
Scope of Job
  • Mentor writers in the development of technical writing skills.
  • Use multiple tools and methodologies to produce user content for a variety of audiences.
  • Manage document compliance to regulatory and audit requirements.
  • Lead cross-functional business areas on large-scale projects in the development of end-user documentation that accurately and effectively reflects the system/process.
  • Support the quality review process, providing input into the coaching and calibration of technical writing resources.
  • Project manage the production of and alignment between controlled documentation, training and communication on large system implementations.
  • Participate in a dynamic authoring environment designed around quality, continuous improvement and fast-paced delivery.
  • Conduct usability test studies to gather end-user feedback, with the ability to translate that feedback into content design improvements.
  • Gather end-user feedback and conduct needs assessment to determine documentation needs.
  • Flexibility to move between technical writing assignments.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing or related field OR high school diploma with at least five years' experience in a technical writing-related role required. Master’s degree in Technical Writing, Instructional Design or related field a plus.
Minimum of five plus years of technical writing experience preferred.
Excellent written, organizational, and analytical skills.
Advanced knowledge of writing and editing best practices and use of style guides.
Exceptional skills in editing technical documentation and the ability to recognize errors and opportunities for developmental improvement in information deliverables.
Excellent Project management experience required.
Advanced knowledge of Information Mapping a plus.
Advanced interviewing and listening skills to gather necessary content from multiple resources.
Team player, able to thrive in a fast-paced, competitive environment and willing to contribute when help is needed outside of primary job responsibilities.
Excellent communication skills, curiosity and attention to detail are required.
Organized and flexible with the ability to prioritize and work under time constraints and meet project deadlines.
Creative thinker with innovative spirit. Ability to look for new and better ways to develop content/ perform tasks. Effectively execute on new methods, when appropriate.
Experience with conducting usability testing a plus.
Advanced knowledge of SharePoint for version control, work in progress, publishing and management of intake tasks.
If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.
For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 78,900 - 131,500 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.
This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
