BODYARMOR is looking for a Technical Manager - Packaging - to join our team.
The Technical Manager - Packaging will provide a broad range of packaging engineering expertise and technical leadership to support all BODYARMOR’s copacker locations and to oversee all aspects of primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging, and material handling. This position requires expertise in product packaging materials, new package design, equipment and systems, optimization, continuous improvement, and handling technical aspects. This position will report to the Director of Engineering and Industrialization.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsibilities will include creating, maintaining, and updating packaging specifications and test protocols.
- Create plans and lead packaging trials performed at co-packers. Coordinate with co-pack facilities, OEMs, and vendors, along with BODYARMOR HQ. Lead the documentation and reporting of the results.
- Drive short- & long-term productivity through value engineering initiatives across a wide range of package materials and structures (cans, powder stick packs, bottles, closures, and cartons etc.) to meet business objectives.
- Concurrently manage and support multiple projects, ensuring timely and successful completion of activities to meet project milestones.
- Have knowledge across primary packaging materials including PET, PP, PE, aluminum, steel, and glass.
- Responsible for line evaluations and ensuring capabilities to process BODYARMOR products. Provide technical supportand material qualifications for all new product launches (i.e., can, powder stick pack, bottle, cap, label, tray, case/pallet pattern etc.).
- Assist other departments as needed while onsite at co-manufacturing facilities. (i.e., Audits, Inspections, Cycle Counts, etc.).
- Maintain a high level of awareness of current and emerging technologies in packaging with respect to equipment, engineering, design, regulatory requirements and make recommendations on their application to improve profitability of operations.
- Provide operational support for co-packers and Engineering: troubleshooting, operational improvement, and line efficiency improvement etc.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong technical understanding of packaging discipline and has good understanding of other disciplines within the function
- Experience with hot fill, cold fill, retort, and aseptic packaging
- Ability to write reports clearly and concisely and in a timely manner
- 5+ years of experience inmanufacturing and packaging design principles including filling, bottling, conveyance, case packing, cartoning, and palletizing required
- Ensure concurrence of other parties on practices, policies, and procedures
- Position requires substantial travel 50 - 75% Travel by car and plane
- Must hold a valid driver’s license and be able to drive long distances at times
- Salary Range: $110,000 - $135,000 annually -Base pay offered may vary depending on geography, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
- Motor Vehicle Records must satisfy Company standards per Driving Policy
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or packaging engineering is required
