The Technical Assistance Consultant will coordinate, support, and lead teams on projects related to special education systems and K-12 students with disabilities. This work will include interaction with state education agencies, district leaders, educator preparation programs, education cooperatives, and other education organizations. The work will also include the development and implementation of training and technical assistance (TTA) tools and processes designed to support clients with a range of needs. Responsibilities include:
- Work with teams to develop competitive proposals for new projects related to special education
- Deliver effective in-person and virtual professional learning on special education topics
- Support the implementation and management of technical assistance and evaluation projects related to special education and K-12 students with disabilities that apply research and evidence with state and local entities
- Present at professional conferences and webinars
- Provide ongoing technical assistance and coaching to clients related to special education topics including but not limited to inclusion, instruction, intervention, assessment, data use, systems coaching, leadership and workforce development
- Develop high-quality training materials, toolkits, curricula, research briefs, and other resources focused on special education
- Write for publication
Education, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Experience with learning management systems preferred but not required
- Experience providing coaching to teachers and/or leaders
- Minimum of 2 years teaching and school administration experience
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience; or Master’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; or a PhD
- Experience developing and delivering professional learning content for teachers, interventionists, and school and district leaders via in person and online learning formats
- Experience managing projects or tasks
- Strong content knowledge of special education, including inclusion, instruction, intervention, assessment, data use, systems coaching, leadership, and workforce development
Skills:
- Ability to travel (~10%)
- Publication record preferred but not required
- Effective interpersonal skills to ensure successful communication with individuals at all levels and from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to balance multiple projects
- Successful federal and/or state grant writing expertise preferred but not required
Disclosures:
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis. Employment-based visa sponsorship (including H-1B sponsorship) is not available for this position. Depending on project work, qualified candidates may need to meet certain residency requirements.

AIR’s Total Rewards Program, is designed to reward our staff competitively and motivate them to achieve our critical mission. This position offers an anticipated annual salary of $85,000 - $115,000. Salary offers are made based on internal equity within the institution and external equity with competitive markets. Please note this is the annual salary range for candidates that are based in the United States.
