Tax Processor / Bookkeeper: professional responsible for assisting in the preparation, review, and processing of tax returns and related financial documents for individuals, businesses, or organizations. They play a crucial role in ensuring that tax-related information is accurate, compliant with relevant regulations, and filed within the required deadlines.
Full-Time
Compensation from $13 per hour.
Key
Responsibilities:
Tax Return
Preparation: Assist in the preparation of various tax returns, including
individual income tax returns (Form 1040), corporate tax returns (Form 1120),
partnership tax returns (Form 1065), and other applicable forms based on the
specific requirements of clients or the organization.
Data
Gathering: Collect and organize financial information, receipts, and relevant
documentation from clients or internal sources to ensure accurate and complete
tax reporting.
Data Entry
and Verification: Enter financial data into tax software or spreadsheets and
verify the accuracy of information provided by cross-referencing with
supporting documents.
Tax
Research: Stay updated on the latest tax laws, regulations, and deductions to
ensure compliance and identify potential tax-saving opportunities for clients.
Tax
Calculations: Perform basic tax calculations such as taxable income,
deductions, credits, and taxes owed to ensure accurate and efficient tax
processing.
Quality
Control: Review tax returns and related documents for errors, omissions, and
inconsistencies, and make necessary corrections or adjustments to ensure
compliance with tax laws and regulations.
Communication:
Communicate with clients, internal teams, or tax authorities to address
inquiries, clarify information, and resolve any issues related to tax
processing.
Filing and
Reporting: File tax returns electronically or through traditional methods with
the appropriate tax authorities before the respective deadlines.
Compliance
Monitoring: Ensure adherence to tax regulations, internal policies, and
industry standards during the tax preparation and processing stages.
Client
Support: Offer assistance and guidance to clients in understanding their tax
situations, potential deductions, and tax-related responsibilities.
Maintain
Records: Keep detailed and organized records of tax-related documents, client
interactions, and any other relevant information.
Qualifications
and Requirements:
Knowledge
of Tax Laws: Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws,
regulations, and filing requirements.
Computer
Skills: Tax preparation software, spreadsheet applications, and financial
management tools.
Attention
to Detail: Ability to meticulously review financial information and identify
discrepancies or potential issues.
Analytical
Skills: Strong analytical abilities to perform tax calculations accurately and
efficiently.
Communication
Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with
clients and team members effectively.
Time
Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work to meet strict
tax deadlines.
Confidentiality:
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and personal information.
Experience:
Prior experience in tax preparation, accounting, or finance roles is desirable
but not mandatory, opportunity for recent graduates too
