Job Description

The Systems Engineer primary role is to operate, test, fix, and retrofit waterflow and sensor systems. The engineer will be trained to operate various equipment and must be a great learner, very comfortable hands-on working on physical mechanical and electrical systems, and a great team player that loves to get things done. This position requires lab-scale and pilot-scale system operation skills and willingness to learn. Experience with water treatment systems is a major plus, but not required. Experience with acoustics is a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operate machinery and systems, collect data, take measurements using sensors and instruments.

• Be able to clearly communicate issues and identify potential solutions.

• Design, build, assemble, and troubleshoot laboratory- and pilot-scale hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems and processes.

• Follow methods and procedures in order to collect data from system. Trend analysis with MS Excel

• Maintain a safe working environment and follow all safety guidelines.

  • Attend and actively contribute at meetings for continuous improvement of process and equipment.

• Summarize and communicate experimental results, both orally and in writing.

• Operate and maintain pilot scale systems at test sites once trained.

  • Utilize and update project and task management system (Monday.com) with progress updates.
  • Manage and/or update inventory, receive packages/deliveries, and wrap and send packages.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

• Education – Engineering degree (chemical, mechanical, or electrical) technical college in mechanical technician, electrical technician, or water treatment operator work.

• Years of Experience – 1-3 years of hands-on experience is preferred, but not necessary if the other requirements are met. Field water/wastewater treatment systems experience is a positive, but not required.

• Familiarity and experience with building things, operating/fixing machines and equipment is required.

• Experience with process control and automation.

  • Experience and familiarity with electrical engineering and ME/EE integration important.
  • Highly proficient, quick, and capable learner that can be easily trained and coached – picks up new skills easily.
  • Experience making precise engineering measurements.

• Once trained, works independently under general supervision.

• Willingness to travel within the U.S. to conduct onsite testing.

• Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.

  • Adaptive and nimble; comfortable in a fast-moving startup environment.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Results-oriented, gets the job done and on time.
  • Strong appetite for innovation, experimentation, creativity, and problem solving.
  • Proficient in different digital and management tools like Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Monday.com.
