Job Description

System Administrator SQL and Windows Servers

U-Haul is seeking an Associate Systems Administrator to join the Platform Operations team as an Associate Database Administrator and Windows server Administrator. The ideal candidate will have an outgoing personality, be self-motivated, have strong interpersonal skills, and a positive attitude. Additionally, they will have experience working with Microsoft SQL, database encryption, and failover clustering.

Duties:

  • Perform SQL server and database maintenance
  • Improve existing monitors and develop new alerts
  • Monitor database backups
  • Perform SQL upgrades
  • Make optimization recommendations to SQL queries
  • Troubleshoot issues with applications connecting to SQL databases
  • Willingness to learn Linux administration
  • Monitor and respond to SQL server performance degradation
  • Managing SQL Server & Database access
  • Participate in an on-call rotation
  • Respond to capacity issues on database servers

Preferred Requirements/Education:

  • Experience with Linux
  • 1 year of experience with Microsoft SQL 2016 or newer. Duties could include those listed above
  • 1+ years of Windows Server experience. Duties could include patching, managing access, troubleshooting performance, etc.
  • A computer technology degree or equivalent work experience required
