Center for Life Management (CLM) provides the area's most comprehensive array of outpatient mental health services for adults and elders. Our multi-disciplined treatment team works with individuals ages 18+ who experience severe and persistent mental illness, co-occurring developmental disabilities and substance use disorders. We use a variety of evidence-based practices to treat our clients, one of which is Supported Employment (SE). SE is an approach to vocational rehabilitation that emphasizes helping individuals find, obtain, and thrive in competitive, community-based employment opportunities. SE also assists clients in their pursuit of education for career achievement and advancement. The Supported Employment Specialist provides supportive counseling, motivational interviewing, and specialized skills training to support clients with their personal employment and educational goals. This is a full time, 35 or 40 hour per week position.
Major Functional Areas and Description of Duties
  • Maintain professional memberships, licenses, accreditation, certifications, etc.;
  • Use motivational interviewing strategies to foster personal goal development, behavior change and use of coping skills;
  • Adhere to and uphold the General Organization Index and Fidelity Scales specific to Supported Employment to support the authenticity of program implementation;
  • Provide set hours of billable service each week (eligible for incentive pay upon exceeding productivity expectation);
  • Engage in appropriate consultation meetings and committees, both internal and external, as determined by supervisor;
  • Represent CLM in a professional and appropriate manner in all settings;
  • Keep track of and engage clients in the process of outcome measures;
  • Function professionally and in a manner that protects the integrity, confidentiality and rights of all patients;
  • Provide weekly and/or biweekly individual and group Supported Employment services in a variety of settings including the client’s home, public, or remote via telehealth;
  • Provide crisis intervention when clients experience acute exacerbation of symptoms to ensure their safety within the home and/or community;
  • Execute all required services and timely documentation in accordance with agency policies and federal/state standards;
  • Work collaboratively with clients, natural supports, employers, educators, and team members to ensure services are in alignment with the Supported Employment program;
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Ability to navigate an electronic health record;
  • Ability to exercise sound clinical judgment in routine, urgent, and emergent clinical situations;
  • Effective communication skills, organizational skills, and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to acquire and effectively practice new clinical skills as needed according to evolving agency needs/services;
  • Experience working with co-occurring disorders preferred;
  • Ability to document effectively and efficiently in course of clinical work;
  • Experience with motivational interviewing preferred;
  • Ability and desire to work as part of a clinical team while also able to be self-directed and motivated with minimal supervision;
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (social work, psychology, mental health counseling) however an Associate’s degree (human services) along with a minimum of two years of direct service in a related field may qualify;
  • Proficient computer skills, specifically with all Microsoft office applications;
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
The work will be performed in the office, in the clients home, out in the community and/or remote via telehealth. Manual dexterity is needed to use computers. The ability to sit for extended periods of time is required. Reliable internet access, transportation, a clean driving record, and proof of auto insurance coverage is required.
