Position Summary:
Reports to the substance use disorder (SUD) counselor. Responsible for the delivery of employment reentry skills and job placement, retention, advancement curriculum to inmates in compliance with American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and Florida Department of Corrections (FDOC) directives.
Essential Functions:
1. Review detailed background file and conduct personal interviews to analyze and recommend a program for each assigned inmate; develop and implement service plans to meet inmate needs and serve as a liaison between inmate, inmate families, and service providers.
2. Determine skills levels, technical trades knowledge, and other background information for each inmate to assist in the development of return to work program.
3. Provide reentry programming to address Inmates' criminogenic needs as outlined by the customer.
4. Maintain a well-managed, comprehensive instructional environment.
5. Provide appropriate and effective direct classroom instruction to inmates including preparing, maintaining, and assessing personal education plans (PEPs) for each inmate.
6. Oversees and coordinates scheduling of all prison-based Prisoner Reentry programs.
7. Provides continuous educational, vocational, personal and social adjustment counseling on an individual and group basis.
8. Interprets rules, regulations, policies and procedures, and responds to related inquiries.
9. Assists inmates with resume development, interviewing skills and techniques, and appropriate dress attire for interviews.
10. Monitors inmate behavior and reports incidents, inappropriate or unusual behaviors to appropriate treatment team staff; notifies appropriate personnel of inmates failing to comply with policies and procedures.
11. Maintains inmate and other records regarding services provided to include workload statistics; compiles data and submits reports and related documentation as appropriate.
12. Coordinates with outside employers and employment organizations for inmate employment opportunities; schedules interviews for inmates when needed.
13. Responsible for assisting in job search and placement for inmates by providing employment search schedules with employers within the community in compliance with contractual requirements.
14. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed; provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques.
15. Maintain accountability of staff, clients and property; adhere to safety practices
It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
Education and Experience Requirements:
A minimum of 1) a bachelor's degree or, 2) an associate degree and two (2) years of full-time related work experience, or 3) high school diploma/GED and four (4) years of full-time related work experience. Experience must be in one (1) of the following areas: personnel/human resources, marketing, human services, social work, advertising, or other related fields. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and computer proficiency are required. Valid driver's license in the state of Florida with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
