Under the direction of the local health department director, program director or clinic supervisor, performs interpreting/transliterating services of oral and/or written communications between English and Spanish in a variety of settings and performs other duties as assigned.
Provides interpreting/transliterating services for patients, employees and other individuals for meetings, interviews, telephone calls, etc. including one to one and group settings.
Translates orally all documents presented by patients, staff and other individuals.
Answer inquiries from patients, community agencies and individual s and interprets and explains words and phrases for meaning and appropriateness.
The Employee will provide interpreter services for the Health Department on a schedule, mutually agreed upon by both parties. The Employee will be asked to assist with clerical duties which has the responsibility for registering patients for various programs and services provided by the Local Health Department (LHD). The responsibilities include establishing a medical record by compiling all the necessary forms for registering patients, interviewing the patient to obtain pertinent non-medical information used for identification and income status according to agency and program policy, making follow-up appointments, and collecting a fee for the services rendered. The position requires participation in on-the-job training programs to become knowledgeable regarding the Patient and Community Health Services Reporting and Billing Procedures (PSRS). This is an entry-level position under moderate supervision. The Employee will be responsible to complete annual trainings and submit transcript to the clinic training coordinator. The Employee may be asked to perform other duties as assigned by the Public Health Director.
Compensation will be $15.00 per hour.
