The Supply Inventory Planner requires relevant experience and a proven ability to purchase products from various vendors in order to maintain in-stock levels at DC and store levels. The Supply Inventory Planner is responsible for managing the OTB, so that turn is optimal and unproductive inventory is controlled. The Supply Inventory Planner must have adeptness with current inventory management systems/processes and demonstrate the ability to leverage for maximum efficiency. The Supply Inventory Planner must also have the capability and expertise to lead departmental projects and initiatives.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


Replenishment System Allocation Management


  • Perform analysis and review upcoming promotional forecasts and seasonal activity based on sales, inventory, and in stock expectations (minimum presentation standards).
  • Adhere to OTB spend while achieving planned turnover and revenue growth.
  • Analyze excess inventory; create and monitor action plans to minimize inventory liability.
  • Actively supports the category business plan and line review process with data and analysis, providing recommendations and insights as necessary.
  • Develop and manage DC/SKU level plans by utilizing tools and procedures within the replenishment system. Utilize the replenishment systems planning functionality to maximize product flow to achieve objectives.
  • Monitor product flow from domestic and import vendors to distribution centers and to stores; replenish and allocate product as needed.
  • Optimize the automated replenishment system parameters based on rate of sales, lead times, and order frequency to ensure meeting our inventory levels and in stock goals.
  • Provide ad event analysis and recommendations. Provide defined and ad hoc business analysis and make recommendations based on findings.


Merchant Relationships


  • The Supply Planner participates in the CPFR (Collaborative Planning, Forecast and Replenishment) meetings with the vendors. Collaborates with the Store Planner and Demand Planner to drive business-specific outcomes through inventory planning.
  • Maintain collaborative partnerships with vendors, distribution centers, and stores to ensure the rapid and efficient movement of goods through the supply chain.
  • Accountable for the management of all open purchase orders. Track open POs to ensure on-time delivery at the DC.
  • Develop relationships with merchant team through active involvement in business decisions.
  • Communicate with store teams and respond to individual store issues as needed.
  • Proactively communicates issues and recommends solutions. Develops and presents business updates that are tailored to the audience receiving them.
  • Perform lead-time forecasting analysis and manage receipt flow in alignment with company objectives.
  • Develop and support supplier relationships through on going interactions.


Process Improvement


  • Drive change in company best methods and be a resource for inventory system process enhancements.

  • Advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Ability to interface with all levels of management.
  • Retail experience.
  • Financial analysis and/or forecasting experience.
  • Liaison to cross-departmental roles, ie. Pricing, Merchandising, and Supply Chain.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelors of Science degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Math, or Statistics; and 4+ years business experience with emphasis in Inventory, Merchandising, or Merchandise Planning; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
