Job Description

Job Posting:

Ferguson is North America’s leading value-added distributor across residential, non-residential, new construction and repair, maintenance, and improvement (RMI) end markets. Spanning 34,000 suppliers and more than one million customers, we deliver local expertise, value-added solutions, and the industry’s most extensive portfolio of products. From infrastructure, plumbing, and appliances, to HVAC, fire protection, fabrication, and more, we make our customers’ complex projects simple, successful, and sustainable.

The Demand Planner manages a subset of the company demand forecast by using data driven statistical information merged with intelligence gathered from multiple inputs such as financial plans, market plans, sales plans, and industry information to reach an unbiased consensus with all parties. A Demand Planner is able to challenge other functions’ assumptions by having a strong understanding of data, different levels of hierarchy forecasts, forecast error, and the drivers and statistics that will help minimize bias.

Please Note: We are currently seeking candidates to work in our Headquarters in Newport News, VA. There is an option to work out of our Richmond, VA or Raleigh, NC location as well. We offer a hybrid work model with 3 days in the office; usually Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and then Monday and Friday work from home. But also, willingness to be flexible on those days depending on business needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Use Demand Planning software and statistical forecasting techniques to develop a rolling, 18 months baseline forecast.
  • Participate in Annual Planning and Strategic Planning activities that impact the long-term plan for assigned categories.
  • Collaborate with Supply Planning and the Replenishment team to optimize inventory flow to reduce risk, eliminate constraints and decrease lead times on key items.
  • Run reporting on forecast accuracy, forecast bias and forecast evolution.
  • Serve as a coach and mentor to the business unit to educate the organization on the benefits of demand planning and S&OP.
  • Follow a regimented monthly cadence to collaborate and collect input from Category Management, Marketing, Business Leaders, Sales, Supply Chain and Finance to adjust the forecast and reach consensus with all parties.
  • Lead the assigned Demand Review meeting in the monthly S&OP cycle to report on all forecast changes, collaborate with participants and challenge areas of the forecast that do not align with the trends and analysis presented by the planning team. Advance areas that consensus cannot be reached to the next step in the S&OP process.
  • Maintain documentation and standard operating procedures for demand planning processes and systems.
  • Participate in or lead projects related to data driven supply chain optimization, planning system improvements, master data strategy, etc.
  • Improve forecast accuracy by analyzing forecast error, recommending and implementing appropriate action plans.

Qualifications:

  • Logility Planning software experience highly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or related analytical subject area.
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to build positive relationships across the organization.
  • PowerBI proficiency preferred.
  • 2+years of S&OP, IBP, or related supply chain planning process preferred.
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Office Access required.
  • Has strong analytical skills with the ability to scrutinize and break down facts and concepts in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and collaboration skills.
  • SQL database skills a plus.
  • Experience leading collaborative demand meetings, participating in a consensus process or involvement in an S&OP process.
  • 3+years of demand planning experience required.
  • Ability to investigate and see the big picture within the same discussion.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel required. Advanced knowledge preferred.
