Position Summary:
Responsible for typing P.O.’s, letters, memos, etc. Responsible for filing and distribution of P.O.’s, requisitions, contracts, CER’s and other correspondence. Responsible for dealing with salesman on daily routine matters, initiating purchase orders and coordinating the purchasing function with General Stores and all other departments.
Position Accountabilities:
The following are essential job accountabilities:
- Enhance professional growth and development through the participation in educational programs, staff meetings, in-services/workshops and successful completion and maintenance or required certifications of specialty areas.
- Procure and expedite the purchase of supplies and equipment.
- That the quality description is accurate in every respect and that the products are of approved quality.
- Maintain the integrity of pricing, whether by written quotes, telephone inquiries or vendor catalogue.
- Make sure the quantity and delivery information is correct.
- Assist the Purchasing Manager in vendor selection as to available facilities, dependability, quality, and reputation.
- Make sure the method of transportation is in the best interest of same.
- Make sure pricing information is correct, including all payment terms, F.O.B. terms etc.
- To place purchase orders by telephone, computer, mail, or directly to vendor representatives.
- Issue purchase orders for daily or monthly purchases.
- Assist Department Heads in preparing requisitions for special items.
- Consult Department Heads regarding substitutions if original items are not available.
- Arrange with vendors for maximum use of discount.
- Examine inventory records for accuracy and adherence to inventory control procedure.
- Review inventory of stock items to insure that level is consistent with usage.
- Maintain only active items in stores. Return items not being utilized for credit or exchange.
- Completes .edu’s and other required hospital education by the due date.
- Adheres to SRRMC Behavior Standards.
- Complies with San Ramon Regional Medical Center Policies/Procedures protecting patient information and the confidentiality of the information in accordance with the Federal and State regulations.
Position Qualifications:
Minimum Education: Must have high school education or experience in Purchasing
Minimum Experience/Skills:
- Must be computer literate
- Must be very organized and detailed
- Possess strong communication skills
- Knowledgeable in office procedures
