Job Description
Responsibilities
Summary
Direct supervision of production employees. Perform a variety of duties consisting of developing, implementing, and maintaining manufacturing and assembly processes in order to produce products in accordance with company and customer requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for the direct supervision of production employees and meeting manufacturing, quality and delivery requirements.
Prioritizes and maintains work schedules based on production demand, machine load, and employee skillset to ensure customer requirements are met.
Review the production/schedule needs to align manpower with tasks and schedule workload in the shop.
Familiar with the performance capability of current machine shop equipment recommending replacement or needed maintenance in order to keep equipment in proper operating condition.
Ensures that products produced comply with quality standards and customer requirements.
Evaluate labor and machine capacity for capital expenditures and manpower for the machine shop
Interacts with Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality teams to provide design improvements of parts, determine correct machine hour standards, and correct machine center selection.
Involves Manufacturing Engineering in resolving process or technical problems.
Continuously strives to improve the machining process by reducing cycle time and reducing scrap/rework.
Oversees the training of Machine Shop personnel, including cross-training in the use of various equipment as well as the use of new equipment.
Evaluate the order requirements for the consumable tooling and generate the requisitions for ordering special tooling.
Motivate, instruct, and assist employees to achieve optimum and safe productivity and develop advanced skills.
Maintain a high level of overall shop organization and housekeeping using 5S and FOD prevention programs. Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
Associate's degree or completion of a technical specialty program or equivalent combination of education and training required.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in-depth specialized training program preferred.
Education preferably in engineering or technical field and have a minimum 4 years of relevant experience in a lean manufacturing environment, including experience in Kaizen, Six Sigma, plant layout and planning.
Key Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
High level of judgment, analytic ability, and creativity, such as investigating moderately complex problems or situations, analyzing information, and recommending solutions.
Performance of complex tasks requiring extensive knowledge of the Department’s work.
Significant hands-on experience in CNC/conventional machining.
In-depth understanding of the machining process.
Proficient in the use of MS Office software such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.\
