Job Description
Supporting Community Healthcare is a rewarding role. LifeLong Medical Care is looking for a SUD - Recovery Support Specialist for our East Bay Community Recovery Project (EBCRP), Project Pride in Oakland. The SUD - Recovery Support Specialist is responsible for providing treatment, support services, and monitoring of residents and their children during various shifts as assigned; in addition to the below essential duties and responsibilities within the Project Pride residential program for pregnant and parenting mothers, their children, and adult women. The SUD-Recovery Support Specialist will report directly to the Program Director.


This is an On-Call Per Diem position.

Compensation $23 - $25/hour.


COVID-19 Vaccine Policy

This policy will comply with all applicable laws and is based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Order of the California State Public Health Officer. Unless a reasonable medical or religious accommodation is approved, all employees must receive COVID-19 vaccinations.


  • Responsible for pulling end of month facility paperwork and filing accordingly
  • Assist in monitoring residents’ own medication as prescribed by their physicians per agency policies and procedures
  • Pre-employment drug screen and clearance required
  • Other duties as assigned
  • BA in psychology, social work counseling or a related field a plus
  • TB test and health screen required
  • Facilitating weekly random UA (Urinalysis) testing of all residents
  • CPR/First Aid certificate required
  • Professional conduct and professional code of ethics is required to ensure clients confidentiality
  • Qualified to drive agency vehicle with a valid driver’s license
  • Understanding and knowledge of mental health and case management needs for this population
  • Ability to work with children and populations of women with mental health or criminal justice issues
  • Ensure structure of program is followed
  • The nature of this position requires that meal periods taken according to shift hours worked and/or “on duty”
  • Responsible for medication forms and documentation shared duties
  • Responsible for securing the facility and monitoring building access
  • Responsible for completing and finalizing assigned resident’s group services and/or group notes via EHR (Clinician’s Gateway)
  • One or more years of professional experience working with clients in a substance use treatment program (organization, position and dates in which experience was acquired must be specified)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and must be reliable, committed and flexible and able to work shifts on short notice for staff sick leave and vacations including holidays
  • Certified or Registered AOD Counselor with one the accredited certifying organizations in California (CCAPP, CADTP, or ACCBC) or available to begin the registration credentialing process, or MFT Intern Status
  • Provide crisis intervention and crisis management services as needed
  • Participate in trainings and team meetings as directed
  • Facilitate residents’ completion of house jobs and cooking tasks by working with them, acting as a coach and teacher as their skill development requires
  • Document participation, progress, and problems in staff electronic shift change and client’s file via EHR (Clinician’s Gateway)
  • Assist in the management, maintenance, and up-keep of the program
  • Ability to relate to clients in a warm and empathetic manner
  • Good writing and computer skills
  • Performs duties of mental health and substance abuse counselor in an integrated substance use and co-occurring disorder treatment program
  • Contact the appropriate Project Pride staff in case of emergency, as well as any help as needed, e.g. law enforcement, fire and medical response
